Days of our Lives Recap, October 13: Xander and Philip Tried to Bribe the Home Inspector

On the Tuesday, October 13, 2026, episode of Days of our Lives, the house inspector combed through the Kiriakis mansion, Roman gave Kate an anniversary gift, Sarah updated Maggie about the lawsuit, EJ told Chad about their brother, and Cat talked to Marlena about EJ.

In the Kiriakis living room, Xander assured Philip that if the home inspector confirmed the issues Maggie had cited in the disclosure statement for the home sale, Dominic would likely back out of the deal. When the home inspector, Hank Garrison, arrived, Xander and Philip hovered nearby as he started his inspection.

At the end of the inspection, Hank confirmed that the extent of the damage appeared to be nominal and recent. “You two have been trying to sabotage this inspection. Am I right?” Hank asked.

At the pub, Maggie asked Sarah if she had talked to Brady about her intention to move back into the mansion if they managed to sabotage the sale. Sarah said she intended to talk to Brady, but she wanted to wait until after Rachel had recovered from her ruptured appendix.

When Maggie asked about the lawsuit, Sarah told Maggie that Johnny had made a statement to the police that had confirmed everything they had suspected about the DiMera cover-up. Maggie asked if Johnny had been involved with the cover-up, and Sarah confirmed that Johnny’s only part other than silence was to set the book out on Sarah’s desk. Sarah said she was grateful that Johnny had intervened with the book and to clear her name. Sarah noted that even with Johnny’s help, the accusation had hurt her reputation with her patients.

Roman and Kate celebrated their wedding anniversary in front of the pub. Kate gave Roman a pair of Bulls tickets. Roman asked Kate to move back in with him. Kate eagerly accepted. As Roman and Kate reentered the pub to celebrate, Xander and Philip followed them inside to update everyone on the inspection.

Xander and Philip reported that Hank had seen through their ruse, and that they had attempted to bribe the inspector to sign off on the damage. Hank had refused to lie in his report. Xander and Philip had explained their emotional attachment to the house and why they had been forced to sell it.

After the brothers’ emotional plea, Hank admitted he had seen signs of the issues that Maggie had identified in her disclosure. The group celebrated, and Maggie said she hoped the report was enough to scare Dominic away from the house. Right on cue, Dominic’s real estate broker texted Maggie to ask to nullify the contract. The group cheered, and Xander picked Sarah up and spun her around in celebration.

Cat met with Marlena in her office, and they discussed their last hypnotherapy appointment. Cat updated Marlena on what had happened with EJ since he had learned about Cat’s past with the ISA. Marlena asked if it was possible to regain EJ’s trust. Cat said she was not sure. Cat told Marlena that she had quit her job to see if EJ would come around, but he had not called her since. Cat confessed that the ISA job had made her feel like she could make amends for all the pain she had caused the people of Salem, and she regretted that she would not be able to see it through.

Marlena reminded Cat that EJ had escaped numerous efforts to bring him to justice. With a sigh, Cat said she was also surprised to realize that EJ did not have feelings for her. Marlena asked Cat why she was upset, and if it was possibly because Cat was falling in love with EJ. Cat said no.

Cat explained that she was more upset about Chad’s angry reaction to the news that she had worked for the ISA. Cat said she understood Chad’s reaction, and she admitted that he likely had had a point about her not using the ISA to stop Clyde. Marlena reminded Cat that she had acted out of fear, not a desire to harm anyone. “That’s not much of an excuse, is it?” Cat said.

At the DiMera mansion, Chad confronted EJ about Johnny’s statement to the police. “Why do you do stuff like this?” Chad yelled. EJ explained that although he had known about the contamination, George had assured him that the pills had not been distributed. EJ added that he had been shocked by the revelation that George had allowed the pills to circulate to the public. When Chad said he did not believe his brother, EJ claimed that George was passing the blame to him to save himself.

When EJ said he was disappointed that Johnny had not talked to him before going to the police, Chad countered that Johnny had confirmed that EJ had admitted the truth to Johnny before he talked to the police. EJ argued that Johnny had lied and betrayed him. Chad urged EJ to reach out to Johnny to make amends with his son for having told the truth.

When Chad mentioned Stefano, EJ lost his cool, and he argued that none of his children had truly known Stefano. Suspicious, Chad asked why EJ no longer felt certain about their father’s motives.

EJ told Chad that Dominic was likely their half-brother. EJ told Chad what he had overheard from Marlena about the birth certificate. When Chad asked about Rita, EJ noted that Rita had been lying to him for months, and she had disappeared after EJ had confronted her. EJ noted that things had felt different since the will reading, and he was concerned about what that meant for the family.

When Chad said he did not think things would change much, EJ argued that the fact that Marlena was Dominic’s mother would elevate him above EJ in the family. Chad scoffed at EJ’s petty concern. Chad asked about Stefano’s missing ring. EJ realized that Rita must have taken his ring and given it to Dominic. EJ reminded Chad of the events leading up to the will which had included removing EJ as the executor and the added bequest to Marlena. EJ theorized that Stefano had instructed Rita to give the ring to Dominic so that he could make a splash on his arrival. Concerned, EJ argued that they needed to be prepared for their new brother.

When Chad suggested that EJ use Cat to help him research Dominic, EJ explained that Cat had quit because she felt that EJ did not trust her. Chad said he did not trust Cat either. When Cat walked into the living room, Chad waved at her dismissively, and he walked out. Cat said she was there to drop off her laptop and keys. As Cat turned to leave, EJ told her he did not want her to go.
