Days of our Lives Recap October 20: Sophia Revealed That She Was Alive

On the Tuesday, October 20, 2026, episode of Days of our Lives, Mason got a room, Bonnie warned Joy off Alex, Dante showed Marlena a picture of Dominic, and Sophia revealed herself to Amy.

Marlena was walking through the square as she talked to Brady on the phone, and she promised not to tell anyone that Kristen was in town. As Marlena ended her call, she ran into Tate. When Tate mentioned that he was on his way to visit Rachel, Marlena advised Tate to give Rachel time to sleep. Tate decided to check on Joy instead.

At the pub, Roman showed Mason the room he had for rent. When Roman learned that Marlena was Mason’s reference, he happily invited Mason to move in. Roman asked why Mason had moved to Salem, and he explained that he had been born in Salem and was interested in the social work program at the university.

After Roman showed Mason around, they ran into Marlena out front of the pub. Marlena updated Roman on Rachel’s condition, and she thanked Mason for having convinced Holly to volunteer at the helpline. Mason promised to drop off the deposit the next day, and he left. Marlena asked Roman if the room situation meant that Kate was moving back in with him. Roman announced that Kate had moved back in on their anniversary. Marlena beamed with joy.

In the pub, Dante noted that he was happy to allow Sydney to continue to work remotely. Dante said he understood why Sydney would want to stay with her family in light of the scandal at DiMera. Suspicious, Sydney asked Dante if he wanted her to spy on DiMera. Dante assured Sydney that he was not interested in that. Sydney pointed out the strange coincidences that had been piling up, and she noted that she was concerned that Dante might be using her and Sami.

With a smile, Dante noted that Sydney was a lot like her mother. Dante assured Sydney that he loved Sami, and he had hired Sydney because of her legal talent. Sydney asked Dante how he knew about Dominic’s plans to move to Salem even though he had claimed to have little contact with his old roommate. Dante explained that Dominic’s plans were undefined because of issues with his visa. Sydney asked if Dante could help her contact Dominic.

Dante noted that even in school, Dominic had been difficult to reach. Marlena walked in with Roman, and Sydney introduced them. Dante told Roman and Marlena that he wanted their blessing to marry their daughter. Marlena and Roman noted that their main concern was that Sami was happy.

Marlena started to ask about Dominic, but Dante stressed that the only current information he had on Dominic was that he planned to visit Salem. Dante added that he had been unaware of Dominic’s connection to anyone in Salem when he had gotten engaged to Sami. Roman said he was unnerved by the lack of information on Dominic. Dante showed a picture of Dominic to them, and he joked that Dominic looked like Marlena.

As Joy settled into her new room at the Kiriakis mansion, Alex assured her that he had pushed her to move into the mansion for logistical reasons and not because he did not want her around. Joy said she understood that Alex wanted his wife to move back in with him. Alex argued that Joy’s new living arrangements were better for both Joy and Kelsey.

After Alex left, a frustrated Joy threw a book at the doorway. Tate dodged the book as he walked up to the room. Joy apologized. Tate said he had wanted to check on Joy and the gym setup. After some rehab advice, Tate left. Joy talked to Bonnie about Tate’s kindness. Bonnie told Joy that she understood that Joy’s situation was frustrating, but that she wanted her to know that she and Justin were excited to have Joy and Kelsey stay with them. When Kelsey grew fussy, Joy noted that Kelsey missed Alex.

Bonnie told Joy that she saw how she looked at Alex. Joy told Bonnie that she was not interested in Alex. Bonnie told Joy that she recognized her as a fellow schemer, and she advised Joy to move on from Alex to save herself from heartache. After Bonnie left, Joy told Kelsey that they would be a family with Alex. At the pub, Roman accidentally opened Joy’s package of pills from her father.

At Alex and Stephanie’s apartment, Stephanie researched on her laptop about possible ways to fake paralysis. When Alex returned home, he asked Stephanie about it. Stephanie said she was certain that Joy was faking her paralysis. Alex argued that it was unlikely, but Stephanie countered that Joy’s priority was Alex, not Kelsey.

In the Salem graveyard, Sophia visited her own grave. There was a noise, and Sophia ducked into the bushes. Amy appeared with flowers for her daughter’s grave. A tearful Amy talked to her daughter about the family and how much they missed Sophia. When Amy broke down, Sophia revealed herself.

Stunned, Amy stumbled over and hugged Sophia. After the two women cried and held one another for a few moments, Sophia explained that she had not intended to tell Amy that she was alive, but after she had watched her at the grave, she knew she had to reveal herself. Amy was eager to tell the rest of the family, but Sophia asked Amy to keep her a secret. Sophia explained that she could not stay because she would go to prison for attempted murder.

Sophia said that although she was finally doing well mentally, it did not matter in the eyes of the law. Sophia asked Amy if she planned to turn her in. Amy assured Sophia that she would not betray her. Sophia told Amy that she regretted how she had hurt her, but that she had been desperate to start a new life.

When Amy admitted she had blamed herself for Sophia’s death, Sophia stressed that Amy was not to blame for the problems in Sophia’s life. Sophia said she had been unfair to her mother, and she knew how much Amy loved her. Amy begged Sophia to stay and fight, but Sophia asked Amy to let her go. When Amy resisted, Sophia promised to stay in touch. Amy and Sophia hugged goodbye.

Tate was stretching after a run through the park when he ran into Mason, who intended to do the same. Tate told Mason that he hoped that the volunteer work would help Holly work through her guilt about being unable to help Sophia. Nearby, Sophia was leaving a voicemail for Kristen as she passed the clearing where Mason and Tate were stretching. Mason was startled when he heard Sophia’s voice, but when he turned around, she was gone.
