Days of our Lives Recap, October 26-30, 2026: Surgery, break-ups, and fiery revenge

On Days of our Lives, the week of October 26 to 30, 2026, Xander survived, Brady broke things off, Sarah declared her love, the police questioned Xander, EJ disowned Johnny, Lani was sworn in, Chanel was cancer free, Thomas forgave Cat, and Kristen faced EJ’s wrath.

Life on the Line

At DiMera Enterprises, Xander dove in front of Sarah when George fired his gun. Xander returned fire and shot George. Sarah called 911 while George stumbled down the hall. EJ found George, but when George confirmed he had not retrieved the laptop, EJ left George to die in the hallway. Xander survived surgery, and Brady comforted Sarah. Brady overheard Sarah tell an unconscious Xander that she loved him.

While Leo worried about his friend Xander, Javi comforted him. Marlena took notice and she congratulated them on their reconciliation. Gwen was horrified to learn about Xander’s shooting from the news rather than Leo. Leo apologized. Gwen asked about Javi, and Leo admitted that they were back together. Gwen cried tears of joy for her friend. Gwen admitted she was also sad that she was alone. Leo promised Gwen that she would find someone someday, and that they would have each other no matter what.

Shawn questioned EJ about Steve’s attack and George’s death. EJ carefully hid the blood stain on the cuff of his shirt during the discussion. After Shawn left, Sydney asked EJ if it was true. EJ lied about his involvement. When the coast was clear, EJ burned his blood stained clothes. Sydney admitted to Marlena that she did not believe EJ. Sydney also sent Dominic’s number to Marlena. Marlena called Dominic and left a voicemail.

Brady told Marlena what Rachel had said about life being better when Kristen was not in it. Brady added that he had hope that Rachel’s life would improve with Kristen gone. Rachel improved, and Kayla confirmed that she could go home.

Cat talked to Steve about EJ. When Steve encouraged Cat to walk away from her investigation, Cat refused. Cat told Steve about EJ’s tension with George and Rita’s fight with EJ about Dominic. Steve gave Cat a copy of the birth certificate to make EJ happy.

EJ's Life Gets Worse

EJ ordered his contact at the Salem Police Department to steal George’s laptop from the evidence room. After EJ lectured Johnny about the importance of the family legacy and betrayal, he forsook his son. Johnny countered that his actions showed strength, and EJ’s actions showed he was a coward. Johnny argued that he wanted to break the DiMera cycle and be a better person and father than EJ and Stefano.

Cat comforted EJ after he returned from his fight with Johnny. As a way to calm EJ, Cat lied and said she had gotten a copy of the birth certificate from Marlena. After Cat left, EJ’s spy at the police confirmed that the ISA had already taken possession of the laptop. EJ threw a tantrum over the news.

Johnny told Stephanie about the hurtful comments from his father, and Stephanie reminded Johnny that he would always be a Brady. When Johnny went home, he told Chanel about his conversation with EJ. Chanel reminded Johnny that he had forgiven his father for unforgivable things before, and the fact that EJ could not forgive Johnny proved that EJ should stay out of their lives. Kayla called and confirmed that Chanel was cancer free.

Alex told Stephanie that Joy had confirmed that feeling was returning to her legs. Stephanie was suspicious of the timing. Joy worked out with Tate, and she playfully hugged him in front of Alex to prove that she was not interested in her baby daddy. When alone with Kelsey, Joy promised her daughter that she only had eyes for Alex. Alex took Kelsey and Joy trick-or-treating.

Lani was sworn in as a police officer by Paulina as Abe and Eli watched with tears in their eyes. Abe and Paulina joined Eli and Lani to trick-or-treat with the kids. Paulina noticed Abe was unsteady, but he played it off as nothing.

Xander woke up, and he was surprised to see Sarah at his bedside. When Xander asked about the laptop, Sarah confirmed the police had it, but that it had not been worth Xander’s life. Xander disagreed. Xander argued that anything was worth helping Sarah.

Brady told Sarah that he had realized that Sarah wanted to be with Xander. Although Sarah started to disagree, Brady shut her down. Brady ended his relationship with Sarah because he did not feel she could give him her whole heart. Sarah remained silent as Brady walked away.

Jada questioned Xander about the source of his unlicensed gun. Xander asked for his lawyer. Shawn asked Sarah if Xander had concealed his weapon. Worried, Sarah refused to answer the question. Sarah told Xander that she would not let the police prosecute him for being a hero. After Victoria visited before she left to trick-or-treat with Maggie, Sarah told Xander that she still loved him. Xander asked about Brady, and Sarah admitted they had broken up. Sarah attempted to tell Xander that Brady had dumped her, but Xander fell asleep before she could.

Julie told Foster that she was not interested in anything more than friendship, and he said he understood. Foster told Julie that he was grateful for her friendship, and they agreed to continue to hang out as friends.

Spooky Time

On Halloween, Thomas told Cat that he was no longer angry at her. When Thomas gave his blessing for Chad and Cat to resume their friendship, Chad declined. Chad explained that Cat had done something to anger him, but he did not wish ill on her. Chad admitted that he wished Cat would not date EJ because it was dangerous.

EJ told Chad about how he had disavowed his son, and Chad warned EJ that he would regret rejecting Johnny for having done the right thing. When Chad mentioned that he was concerned about EJ’s involvement with Steve’s assault and the shootings at DiMera, EJ warned Chad not to print stories about him. Chad reminded EJ that he could not tell him how to run his paper.

EJ dreamed that he had stopped Kristen from setting fire to Stefano’s portrait in the mansion. In EJ’s dreams, he tied up Kristen in a ring of candles as a way to reenact the attempted murder of Johnny. Cat intervened, and she reminded EJ that he had changed for the better. After EJ declined to murder Kristen, Cat woke him from his dream. Outside the house, a disguised figure stared in through the window.
