Days of our Lives Recap, October 5 to 9: Arrivals, Departures, and Settling Scores

On Days of our Lives, the week of October 5th through 9th, 2026, Joy moved in with Alex while faking paralysis, Chanel learned the truth about DiMera’s crimes, Johnny worked to save the company, the governor declined to pardon Lani, EJ broke with Rita, Dante arrived in Salem, Leo was arrested, the Kiriakis family attempted to torpedo the closing on the mansion, Rachel had appendicitis, Belle learned about her half-brother, and Kristen located Sophia.

No Joy For Joy

Jada and Shawn babysat Kelsey overnight so that Alex could spend time with Stephanie. Alex and Stephanie caught up on each other’s lives since they had last seen one another. Joy asked Alex if she could stay with him until she could find a place. When Stephanie reluctantly said yes, Alex agreed to let Joy move in. Joy planned to find a way to move in permanently. Tate met with Joy to discuss her physical training. Joy moved into Alex’s house. Stephanie overheard Kelsey crying, and concerned, she opened the front door to the apartment. On the other side of the door, Joy was standing.

Chanel met up with Johnny at the police station, and he told her that he had given evidence against EJ. Belle and Jada rushed to the station to dig into the case against EJ. Johnny gave evidence to Belle and Jada about EJ’s crimes without a guarantee of immunity. After Johnny explained everything that he knew, they told him they would let him know if a deal could be made.

Johnny argued to Chanel that his father had acted to save lives, but Chanel argued that EJ was a complicit monster. Chanel was disappointed to learn that Johnny did not intend to resign from DiMera. Johnny said he wanted to fight to save the company and make it honest. Johnny told Stephanie about DiMera’s misdeeds, and he asked her for a PR plan to save the company.

Starting Fresh

The governor denied Paulina’s request for a pardon for Lani. Paulina refused to give up. Chanel rang the bell after her last cancer treatment. Theo formally rejected Gabi’s job offer, but he agreed to help her take down DiMera Enterprises.

EJ confronted Rita about whether Dominic was his half-brother. When Rita continued to play dumb, EJ threatened her. Rita reminded EJ that she knew all his secrets. As EJ grabbed Rita, Jada interrupted, and she allowed Rita to leave the house. Jada took EJ into custody to question him about the drug contamination and cover-up. When EJ realized that Johnny had given a statement, EJ said that Johnny had filed a false report.

Dante arrived in Salem. Dante offered to allow Sydney to work remotely a little longer in Salem, and she admitted that she was eager to return to Italy and avoid Salem drama. After Dante sat with Sydney and chatted about Dominic, EJ returned from the police station. EJ and Dante met one another for the first time.

Leo missed his date with Javi because Shawn arrested Leo for selling counterfeit bags based on an anonymous tip from Rita. Jada released Leo after Gabi confirmed he was helping her, but Jada warned Leo to let the police handle EJ instead. Leo disregarded Jada’s advice.

Sabotage and Sickness

Kate and Maggie told Sarah, Xander, Philip, and Brady about their plans to sabotage the sale of the Kiriakis mansion by making it appear that the house needed extensive repairs. Roman overheard, and he volunteered his services to help Kate and her family.

Rachel had a terrible stomachache. When the pain intensified, Brady called for an ambulance. Sarah confirmed that Rachel had appendicitis and that her appendix had ruptured. Rachel screamed for her mother. Brady attempted to reach out to Kristen. Steve asked Johnny if he knew how to reach Kristen or why she had left town. Johnny said he did not know how to find Kristen, but he did tell Steve about EJ’s theory that Kristen had sent Sophia after Johnny to kill him as payback. In Kentucky, Kristen tracked down Sophia, and she confronted her in the diner where Sophia was working.

Marlena spent her birthday at the hospital waiting for Rachel to get out of surgery. When Belle gently pushed her mother to open up, Marlena told Belle that Dominic was possibly her son. Belle almost let the revelation slip to Chad, but she kept Marlena’s secret. Chad agreed to Belle’s request to help Leo take down EJ.
