In today’s Days of our Lives recap for October 7, 2026, Shawn makes an arrest, EJ makes a threat, Joy makes a date, and Brady makes an emergency call.

Stomach Pains

At Brady’s apartment, Tate told Brady he’d talked with Marlena earlier to wish her a happy birthday. Marlena’s declaration that she wasn’t celebrating the day confused Tate and he expressed concern about his grandma’s overall change in demeanor. Brady attributed Marlena’s mood to missing John, but Tate believed there was something more. He arranged to send Marlena lilac flowers, then got a call from Sarah about a potential new client and left.

Soon thereafter, Rachel – whom Brady had allowed to stay home from school – came into the room, clutching her stomach in pain. At first, Brady believed Rachel was still just experiencing nervous stomachaches…until he felt her forehead and determined she had a fever. After settling his daughter on the couch, an alarmed Brady called for an ambulance. Later, EMT Javi arrived on the scene and examined the girl. He guessed that Rachel had appendicitis and prepped her for transfer to the hospital.

Later, Brady and Javi convened with Sarah in an examining room. Brady beat up on himself for his failure to act sooner, and both Sarah and Javi urged him not to blame himself. Sarah validated Javi’s assessment about the appendicitis and explained she would run tests to determine if the appendix had burst. Brady realized Rachel would likely need surgery.

Rachel, who had been moaning on the bed, grew hysterical at the news and repeatedly cried “I want mom!” as Brady tried to comfort her. Brady later admitted that Rachel needed her mom. Luckily, Kristen had provided him a means to get in contact in the event of an emergency.

Back in Business

Before the crisis with Rachel, Sarah visited with Joy in her patient’s room. Joy was happy her living situation had been settled, and she expressed gratitude for Alex. But she did not want to overly rely on him. Reflecting on her own bout with paralysis, Sarah empathized and offered Joy words of encouragement. She also offered Joy a referral for an exercise trainer who could help Joy build her upper body strength for the wheelchair.

Although not thrilled with the suggestion, Joy smiled and accepted Sarah’s assistance. Later, Sarah’s referral arrived in the form of Tate. Things were a bit awkward at first as Tate apologized for lashing out at Joy about Stephanie and Alex the last time he’d seen her. He also referenced the semi-familial connection he shared with Joy since his dad had been married to her sister Chloe. Joy considered it all water under the bridge, and she listened with concealed anxiety as Tate confidently stated they’d have Joy walking in no time.

The meeting was cut short when Tate got a message about Rachel. He left Joy his business card and then departed. Joy got on a call with Alex — while applying makeup — and made arrangements for her imminent arrival at his apartment. Following the call, Joy smirked and declared herself “back in business.” Wiggling her toes, she noted that she needed a pedicure.

Right-Hand Rita

At Jada’s apartment, Shawn and she made the most of their liberation from babysitting duties by enjoying some quality time in the bedroom. Later, Shawn received word of a promising lead on one of his cases. Jada smiled and said they both just might crack their respective cases.

Meanwhile, at the DiMera mansion, Rita greeted EJ with the news that Leo Stark had ordered a big supply of “their” handbags. She anticipated the nosy reporter being a renewed problem, but EJ stood and announced he had more “pressing matters” on his mind. Rita thought EJ was referencing the lawsuit against Sarah, until he invoked the name Dominic Marino. EJ demanded to know if the man was his brother. Rita played dumb up to the point that EJ told her about the exchange he’d overheard between Rita and Marlena.

Rita claimed ignorance about Marlena’s questions. She wondered why EJ hadn’t asked about it earlier. While musing about being surrounded by “traitors and turncoats,” EJ explained he’d set up a test for Rita – one she had failed. Rita defended her delay in telling EJ about Marlena’s claims: EJ had so many other things on his plate, and she didn’t want to burden him more.

The defense fell on deaf ears, and EJ seethed with rage. He wanted answers on why Stefano – who had been so obsessed and consumed by Marlena – would keep quiet about having a lifelong and “eternal” link to her for decades. Rita had to know, as she’d been Stefano’s most loyal soldier. Rita would only say every action she had taken over the years had been for the family’s protection. EJ lamented that he hadn’t recognized or dealt with Rita’s betrayal sooner, and he took a menacing step toward her.

Rita regained her composure and reminded EJ that she knew “where all the bodies were buried.” She listed off all of EJ’s various misdeeds, dating back to Arnold Feniger. EJ scoffed that Rita would be implicating herself, but he did seem rattled. Rita in turn reminded her boss that she wasn’t the town’s top target.

Before the heated exchange could escalate further, Jada strolled through the door. EJ and Rita backed into their respective corners and brushed off Jada’s inquiries. When EJ asked why the commissioner was there, Jada readily informed him. She wanted to question EJ about contaminated Coriseal, about Holly Jonas…and about the death of Destiny Rowland.

The Reviews are In

At the Salem Inn, Leo made plans with Javi over the phone to move up their dinner date to a lunch date. He did a happy dance in anticipation of the date. Leo then braced himself to read the reviews of his podcast on The Spectator website. After giving himself a rambling pep talk, he opened the site. Breaking out into a huge grin, Leo perused a stream of raving reviews and excitedly made plans for a Stark Raving Mad franchise, a la Real Housewives.

A knock at the door soon tempered his excitement, however. It was Shawn, who let himself inside because he’d received a tip about a large purchase of counterfeit purses on the premises. Leo tried to explain how he’d been helping Gabi bust the counterfeiters. Spotting the mountain of boxes, Shawn put on his gloves and looked over the handbags. After his examination, he announced that Leo had committed a crime by knowingly possessing counterfeit merchandise.

Shawn told Leo to put his hands behind his back, handcuffed him, and led the protesting reporter out the door. Meanwhile, Javi waited for Leo at Small Bar. He sent a text asking about his date’s whereabouts.

Just how long will the Salem PD’s streak of arresting the wrong person go? Will Jada break the streak with EJ? And will Rachel’s crisis beckon Kristen back to Salem? Sound off in the comments.
