At the hospital, Chanel and Johnny chuckled as they looked at photos of Trey with Olivia. Chanel’s oncologist interrupted to inform Chanel that her test results had confirmed that Chanel’s placenta had shown no signs of cancer. Dr. Patel added that the tumor in Chanel’s breast had shrunk due to the chemotherapy, and that there was no indication that the tumor had spread anywhere else. Dr. Patel recommended a lumpectomy to remove the last of the tumor and confirmed that Chanel could go home.

After the doctor left, Chanel said she was excited to go home with Olivia, but she was worried because they had not finished the nursery. As Johnny started to tell Chanel not to worry, Abe walked in. Chanel offered her condolences about Lexie. Abe choked back his emotion, and he asked to meet Olvia. Abe fussed over the baby, and he noted that Lexie would look out for her namesake. When Abe handed a gift to Johnny, he admitted he had been unsure whether to sign a card Grandpa Abe. Chanel insisted that Abe would always be Olivia’s grandfather.

When Abe mentioned that he was mindful of upsetting Paulina, Chanel assured Abe that Paulina was fine with him continuing to be a grandfather. Chanel encouraged Abe to reach out to Paulina. Abe said he felt like he did not have the right to ask Paulina to comfort him after what had happened between them.

At Johnny and Chanel’s place, Paulina, Lani, and Marlena finished up the nursery for the new parents. Paulina admitted to Marlena that she was an emotional mess between the happiness over her new grandchild and her sadness over Abe. Marlena told Paulina that her reaction was normal. Lani left in order to give Paulina some privacy to talk to Marlena.

Paulina argued that although she wanted to comfort Abe through his grief, she did not feel it was appropriate. Marlena asked Paulina if she was still upset about how things had ended with Abe. Paulina admitted that it still hurt that Abe had chosen Lexie over her, and she did not know if she could get past being his second choice. Paulina said the idea of Lexie had not bothered her, but once she had returned from the dead, she had felt differently.

Paulina changed the subject to Johnny, and she expressed her concern that Johnny was keeping more secrets on EJ’s behalf. Marlena promised to talk to Johnny. Johnny and Chanel returned home with Olivia. Chanel shared the news about her health and detailed what was left in her treatment. While Paulina took Chanel to tour the nursery, Johnny stayed behind with Marlena and he asked her for parenting advice.

In the bedroom,. Paulina lamented that Lani and Chanel had not grown up together, but Chanel said she understood why Paulina had kept Lani a secret. Paulina said that all she wanted in life was to protect her daughters and their spouses from cruel men. Chanel admitted that she did not like EJ’s growing influence over Johnny.

In the living room, Johnny noted that it seemed like Paulina had hinted that Marlena wanted to talk to him. Marlena encouraged Johnny to open up to her about any secrets he might be keeping about Holly for EJ. Johnny played dumb, but Marlena demanded the truth. Johnny said he did not know anything about Holly, and he asked Marlena what she thought EJ had done to her.

Marlena told Johnny that she knew he was lying. Chanel exited the bedroom and she silently watched as Marlena asked Johnny to let her help him. Olivia fussed, Johnny jumped to tend to his daughter and avoid the conversation.

Daniel’s Necklace

At the Kiriakis mansion, Holly and Maggie talked about how sad they were to have lost the house. When Holly noted that the situation was unfair, Maggie reassured Holly that their memories and the family members were more important than the house. Maggie told Holly that while she had been packing, she had found a necklace from Daniel. Maggie gave it to Holly.. “It’s almost like I’m getting a present from him,” Holly said. Maggie told Holly that her father would be proud of her.

Maggie told Maggie about her arsenic poisoning at the cabin. Maggie noted that Sarah believed EJ was responsible, and Holly agreed. Holly told Maggie what Ari had overheard at DiMera. Maggie fretted that EJ had managed to sink lower than his father. Holly muttered about how EJ had used her and turned her against her family. Maggie advised Holly to be careful of EJ.

In the town square, Julie offered Abe her condolences for his loss. Julie invited Abe and Theo to dinner, and Abe readily accepted. After a moment, Julie told Abe about her bereavement book club, and she encouraged Abe to join the group.

While Maggie was walking through the square, she ran into Lani. They talked about the new baby and the twins. Lani admitted that she did not know what to do with her days once the twins started school in the fall. Across the square, Julie was manning a table in the square for her bookstore when Holly stopped by to pick up a textbook. A man named Mason was in line asking for the same book, so Julie introduced the two as classmates. When Holly said her name, Mason coldly declined to shake her hand, and he walked away.

After Julie retrieved the book for Holly, she commented on Holly’s new necklace. Holly admitted it had been a gift from Daniel to Maggie. Nearby, a man on a bench listened to the conversation, then he followed Holly when she walked away.

Maggie stopped by Julie’s table, and the two friends hugged. When Maggie told Julie that she planned to move into a suite at the Salem Inn, Julie insisted that Maggie move into her house. Maggie agreed.

Across the square, Abe visited Lani at the Sweet Bits table, and he told her about his visit with Olivia. When Lani noted that she needed to pick up more whipped cream, Abe offered to man the table for her while she was gone.

In front of the pub, Holly noticed the man from the square was following her and demanded to know if EJ had sent him. The man demanded Holly’s necklace. Holly refused. When the man pulled out a knife, Lani ran over and tackled the man. While Holly called 911, Lani shoved the now disarmed man onto the park bench. Mason was passing by and asked what had happened. Holly explained the situation, and Lani assured Mason that she did not need any help. Mason pointedly ignored Holly.
