Days of our Lives Recap September 14 to 18: Gambling, Connections, Returns, and Betrayal

On Days of our Lives, the week of September 14th through 18th, 2026, Philip won big, Belle discovered a connection between Dominic and Stefano, Theo was tempted, Johnny came clean, Sarah made a move against EJ, Mason upset Holly, Sydney returned to Salem, and Rita appeared to betray EJ on Stefano’s orders.

Dante Vitali presided over his poker game with Sydney playing against Philip. Gabi called out another player as a cheat, and Philip went on to win the game. After the game, Vitali reported back to Dominic Marino that Philip had not won enough to save Titan or his house.

Philip was discouraged by the fact that his poker winnings were not enough to save his family’s legacy. Gabi begged Philip not to take any more chances. Philip insisted he felt lucky, and he bet all his winnings in Roulette on 18, Victor’s birthdate. Philip won. In celebration of the fact that Philip had what he needed to save the family business and house, Philip and Gabi made love.

Chad and Belle were unnerved to find Dominic Marino’s home open and unoccupied. They were surprised to run into EJ in the palazzo while he was there to ask about Marino’s purchase of the Kiriakis mansion. In the living room, they found a duplicate chess box and inside was a photo of Stefano with Dominic as a child. While Belle, Chad, and EJ discussed the mystery, Dominic watched a video feed of them.

EJ avoided calls from home and from Cat in particular. Sydney visited EJ as he packed to leave. They talked about Sami, and Sydney said she felt like Sami would never be over EJ. Sydney added that Dante was a good match for Sami, and she hoped EJ could be happy like Sami. EJ invited Sydney back to Salem so that they could spend time together.

Back in Salem

Belle wanted to consult with Cat as a former ISA analyst, but Chad said no. When Chad returned home, he confronted Cat about why she had lied about her past and not used her connections to fight Clyde. Cat argued that she had acted out of fear that the mole in the ISA would get her mother killed. Chad told Cat that she was not a good person.

Marlena struggled to be alone in her home. When Julie stopped by, Marlena talked to her about Belle’s investigation. Marlena admitted that she was disturbed by the memories dredged up by the quest. When Belle returned home, she told Marlena about the palazzo and the photo. Although Marlena did not recognize the boy in the photo or the name Dominic Marino, she did point out that both Marino and DiMera meant “of the sea.”

Xander met with Brady and Sarah to tell them that he had passed George O’Halloran in the hallway outside of Johnny’s apartment. When Xander argued that Johnny was more involved with the cover-up than they thought, Brady told him about the video footage he had reviewed with Steve.

Xander wanted to pressure Johnny, but Sarah admitted she had already made a move. Xander was worried that Sarah’s anonymous complaint to the FDA would cause EJ to lash out at her, but Sarah insisted it had been her decision. Sarah apologized for having not consulted Xander first.

Belle told Brady that the clues had led to Dominic Marino. Xander confirmed that Marino was the buyer for the Kiriakis mansion. Brady consulted with Steve. Unsure what to do, Xander, Brady, and Sarah decided that they either needed to let EJ have the house or finalize the sale to Marino, who was also connected to Stefano.

Sarah told Xander that she felt for Joy because she had gone through the same thing. When Sarah told Xander that she appreciated how supportive he had been during her paralysis, Xander admitted that he had fallen more in love with her then because of her strength. Xander confessed that the only thing in his life he did not regret was loving Sarah.

George warned Johnny about the anonymous complaint with the FDA, and that he believed Sarah was behind it. Johnny was concerned that the complaint seemed to lay out the full truth of the cover-up, but George assured Johnny that they could counteract the fight in the press. George warned Johnny that if they did not act, they would all go to prison.

Theo was upset when he learned that Johnny had met with George in secret. Johnny told Theo about the anonymous complaint and EJ’s cover-up. Furious, Theo argued that Johnny was complicit in EJ’s crimes. Theo resigned.

Confiding and Confessions

Alex told Stephanie about Joy’s paralysis. Stephanie walked out on him. Stephanie asked Kayla if it was possible that Joy was faking her condition, and Kayla said no. Stephanie complained that she did not think her marriage could survive an extended separation.

Chanel struggled with nausea, so Lani made pot brownies to help her. Lani encouraged Chanel to go for a walk and let the drugs take effect. While Chanel walked through the square, she ran into Alex. Alex talked to Chanel about his marriage troubles. The brownies kicked in for Chanel as she talked to Alex. Stephanie saw Alex and Chanel laughing together, so Stephanie went to the bar and ran into Theo. Theo and Stephanie almost shared a kiss, but Paulina interrupted. Paulina asked Stephanie for advice on how to approach the governor about a pardon for Lani.

Johnny returned home, and Lani demanded to know what he was hiding from Chanel. Before Lani could force an answer out of Johnny, Chanel returned home. Lani backed off. Leo asked Lani to be on his podcast about unsung heroes of Salem. Lani refused. When Leo saw Cat, he told her about the FDA complaint against DiMera. Leo asked for her help, but Cat said no. Cat told Leo she was not in the ISA, but she admitted she had once worked there.

Holly was concerned about the anonymous text she had received, so she asked Tate to give her self-defense lessons. When Holly suggested to Ari that Mason had sent the text, she noted that the phone number was different. Mason talked to Marlena about his work at the mental illness helpline, and how he had struggled with a recent caller that sounded like a veteran friend who had taken his own life. Sydney attempted to make small talk with Mason, but he was not interested.
