Chad and Belle, of course, have already met on Days of our Lives, but the couple still did a "meet cute" over a glass of wine today, May 20, 2026. But now that Conner Floyd is playing Chad, the show is clearly testing the chemistry between him and Martha Madison's Belle, Salem's top attorney, and, so far, these two are getting A's.
A helping hand on Days of our Lives

Actors do chemistry tests when they audition for roles on TV. Once they're cast, in daytime at least, the show has the option of doing additional chemistry tests; this one, between Chad and Belle, took place on screen when the two met for a meal at Horton Square.
Chad's OTP (One True Pairing) was the late Abigail, and Belle's is Shawn (Brandon Beemer), but with Abigail dead (for now -- hey, it's DAYS) and Belle and Shawn split from each other, both Belle and Chad are single and ready to mingle.
Initially, the two engaged in some expository catching up -- Lexie's (Nikki Crawford) alive! Chad shared his mixed feelings over Lexie being back among the living and how he had hoped that it would have been Abigail. It's still amazing that DAYS characters speak about folks coming back from the dead with such relative ease.
Serious kudos to not only Floyd and Madison, but to everyone in the DAYS cast who can discuss a (no pun intended) life and death/surreal matter with such believability. In real-life, folks don't come back from the dead! Sure, there might be a mix-up at the morgue or someone who was presumed dead when there was no body found shows up, but dying on-screen -- which Lexie did, in Abe's arms -- it's a bit of a stretch.
Floyd and Madison played the unlikely scenario with calm conviction. Also, both characters have known each other for years and have been through similar dramas. Chad introduced the topic of a more grounded and relatable conflict -- his not getting along 100% with Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), the parents of the late Abigail, and grandparents of Thomas and Charlotte (even though they parted on good terms after the holidays, didn't they?).
The duo's easygoing chemistry has us wondering if it's too early to come up with a "smush" name for the duo -- "Chelle" sounds better than, well, "Bad."
EJ and Cat come upon something Bad...or Chelle?

Belle suggested the two chat about the future, not the past. Chad heartily agreed that this was a good idea. Belle pointed out that Thomas and Abigail may have reached the whole "their dad's not cool" anymore. (Hmm...does this mean that Thomas and Charlotte are going to experience SORAS - Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome?)
Chad reached out to Belle after she reminisced about her late father, John Black (Drake Hogestyn), and his fondness for baseball. Chad suggested going to a Chicago Cubs game for their next date, should they have one. Belle thought that was a winner of an idea!
Conflict entered the otherwise festive date when Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) came upon them. EJ made a dig that Chad was picking up where "he" had left off, a reminder that he and Belle share a past. There's much left to tell between Chad and Cat, too, based on their awkwardness.
Suddenly, the fun date turned into a tense moment, given Chad's history with Cat and Belle's dynamic with EJ. Has DAYS laid the groundwork for the show's next romantic quadrangle with these four likable leads? It sure looks that way! Bring it on!
