Days of our Lives Two Scoops For the Week of March 9: The EJ who ate Salem

Days of our Lives has gotten itself into a bit of an EJ pickle that it is going to have to find a way out of soon. We have nothing against EJ and find him to be a fascinating character, filled with a very devilish charm, but there is definitely such a thing as too much EJ and DAYS is officially there. Let us count the ways that EJ is everywhere.

EJ and the pod

For months, we've known that EJ, Rolf, and Gwen were attempting to resurrect someone (as Rolf tends to do) and we were pretty sure it was a DiMera. The social media rumor mill pretty much knew that it would be Lexie, but it was still quite a shock to the system to have that confirmed.

So, now we know that EJ and Rolf have been trying to fulfill Stefano's final wish: to one day bring his precious Alexandra back to life. Or at least that is the yarn he spun for Mayor Paulina. When he later told Rolf that there were others on ice ready for resurrection if the Lexie attempt failed, but prayed this would work due to how it would affect the mayor, things seemed a little fishy. Is EJ really doing this just so he can get some petty revenge on Paulina, a woman he has had nothing but surface squabbles with? If so, get this man to Bayview stat cause this is insane.

However, we will put that remark aside for now and try to give this story the benefit of the doubt. Rolf brings people back to life. We know this and we have to accept this. We're willing to see how this all plays out, but we have a feeling it will not go the way EJ (or the DAYS powers that be) hope.

But we know EJ will be center stage, as he has his hands in everything. At least EJ plots finally began to truly collide on Friday, so maybe the colliding plots will finally move.

The Days of our Lives stalker

Let's face it. There is nothing that special about Stephanie Johnson that she needs all these stalkers, but at least this latest stalker situation is about to come to its merciful conclusion. Nobody actually asked for the return of Owen Kent, but we got him. Thankfully, his return seems to be a blink-and-you-miss-it one because he's been caught and Stephanie's been found, and hopefully, nobody in Stephanie's orbit even utters the word "Stalker" again for a very, very long time.

And Alex? OMG, can we just punch him now? We barely saw him through the entirety of Stephanie's kidnapping ordeal, which was odd enough. And when he finally popped up again, he listened to Brady's entire logical spiel about Owen likely being the man who kidnapped Alex's bride, dumbo Alex immediately declared, "Yeah, sure, but I know it's Jeremy." At that point, we were ready to throw something at our screens, but we also needed Jada in the shot, so we could get both of them.

Between Stephanie's husband and Stephanie's BFF, this woman is lucky she is still alive. Their Jeremy tunnel vision didn't help anyone and made this entire tale absolutely exasperating, but hey, at least we got EJ. Cause EJ is everywhere.

And EJ joins the stalker plot

EJ has been stalker-plot adjacent for a few months because he was ostensibly the one who sent the bugged picture frame to Alex and Stephanie, but he entered it full-speed ahead this week when he ordered Rolf to kill Jeremy and Stephanie rather than allow them to tell anyone they saw Rolf in the hospital basement.

Now, why he couldn't just have Rolf inject them with some Rolf Special Memory-Erasing Serum is beyond us, as that is the go-to in these situations. Are EJ's killer instincts supposed to tell us that Stefano's ring is directing all of his actions now? Is that why he immediately decided death was the answer? Is the evil lurking within him? Spooookkyyyy.... (Not.)

At least the pod plot might start moving again because super spy Rafe stumbled upon it while trying to find Stephanie. Maybe he should press the button on the side to figure out who is in it, but that might be a bit too much for Rafe.

EJ the dad, EJ's romance, EJ all the time

Let's not forget that EJ is also a father and he really, really wants his son back in his life. However, his daughter-in-law is not about to let that happen any time soon. Chanel wants to forget that EJ exists, and who can blame her after he tried to frame her for attempted murder using an AI deep fake. But Johnny is torn and a sterling silver baby cup might bring them back together.

And finally, there's Cat. EJ likes Cat. EJ wants to know more about Cat. However, EJ does not know that Cat is an ISA agent who has been working undercover for months to try to bring him down. That's why Cat's impulsive kiss is so pleasing to EJ.

Wait, more than EJ?

Did other things happen in Salem this week? Why yes, yes they did. Victoria remained hospitalized. Sarah and Xander grew closer. Sarah and Xander argued. Rinse. Repeat. Outside of Salem, Leo and Dimitri grew closer. Leo and Dimitri argued. Rinse. Repeat. But at least Javi called, which ended up being a disaster, so Leo is sad again and so are we because we are #TeamJavi.

But here is one little silver lining? Left-in-the-lurch Ari might finally find a boyfriend. Sure, he already has a kid and got himself involved in some shady business, but Liam seems like a nice guy, and Ari just lights up when she's around him. We need a little romance like that in Salem. Let something come of this and let it work. Later this year, we are going to lose Holly and Tate AND Johnny and Chanel. Salem is going to need a little young romance or can we even all this show a soap?

If EJ can get out of the way and stay in his one storyline all of his own, maybe love in the afternoon can take over again.

Till next week, Scoopers, when we are sure EJ will place himself smack dab in the middle of Horton Town Square to hold court with his Salem subjects.
