At the DiMera mansion, Cat informed Chad that EJ was sick with the flu. Chad and Cat briefly reminisced about when they had been quarantined together with strep throat. Chad explained that Kristen was missing, and that he needed to talk to EJ face to face. Unfortunately, EJ was asleep. Chad said he had hoped to confirm that Kristen was safe before he left on a trip to Italy. Cat asked Chad if he was going with Belle. Chad admitted that was the plan, but they still needed to coordinate his schedule. Cat told Chad that she was happy for him and Belle.

Belle met up with Marlena at the pub. Marlena confirmed that Kristen had chosen to leave town and was safe. Marlena admitted that Brady had not told her why. Both Marlena and Belle were concerned about the situation, but they agreed to focus on Rachel while Kristen was away.

Marlena asked about Belle’s trip to Italy. Belle admitted she had cancelled because Chad had to stay in town. Concerned, Marlena urged Belle not to go to Italy alone. Belle asked Marlena to join her. Despite Belle’s pitch to spend time with Sami and Sydney, Marlena stressed that she was not interested in pursuing Stefano’s clues. Belle argued that John would have followed the clues until the mystery was concluded. Marlena agreed that Belle was right. Marlena asked Belle to wait for Chad, and Belle agreed.

After Marlena left, Chad joined Belle at the pub. Chad told Belle about his conversation with Cat. Belle admitted she was a little jealous. Chad assured Belle that she did not need to worry about Cat despite how their relationship had ended. Chad and Belle agreed they were happy with one another. Belle told Chad about her conversation with Marlena, and Chad suggested they take the DiMera jet to Italy after the dance.

Theo Confesses

Theo was sitting in his living room when Celeste returned his call. Celeste confirmed that Lexie was not with her. Abe overheard Theo, so Theo lied and said he had been talking to Lani about Abe’s birthday. Theo wished Abe a happy one as he hugged him. Abe suggested they call Lexie, but Theo made excuses about why they should call later. A package arrived for Abe from Lexie. The birthday gift was a silver money clip with an infinity sign etched in it. Abe noted that the infinity symbol always helped him feel closer to Lexie.

Theo went over to the hospital to talk to Kayla, but she was busy. Flustered, Theo admitted to Marlena that he was concerned that Lexie was sick again. Theo asked Marlena if she knew where Lexie was staying. Cat eavesdropped as Marlena told Theo she did not know where to find Lexie. After Theo left, Cat told Marlena that she should encourage Theo to search the DiMera tunnels. When Theo returned home, he told Abe that Lexie was missing.

An Offer You Can’t Refuse

In Alamainia, Dimitri made arrangements to move Leo and Gwen to a new hiding spot. “I don’t think anyone will ever find you again,” Dimitri said. “Someone already has,” Rafe said as he walked into the living room. A henchman shoved Rafe from behind with a gun. Rafe explained that he had proof that Gwen had worked with EJ to coordinate Dimitri’s kidnapping. “You have the letter?” Leo gasped. Gwen growled at Leo.

Dimitri admitted that he did not care about Rafe’s evidence, because he refused to return to the US to give a statement. Rafe argued that if Dimitri refused, EJ would not face justice for his part in Dimitri’s kidnapping. Leo urged Dimitri to comply. Gwen objected, but Leo argued that EJ was in far more danger of prosecution than Gwen. Leo told Dimitri that if he helped stop EJ from continuing to hurt people, Dimitri would be a hero. Rafe agreed, but he added that he still intended to prosecute Gwen. Rafe argued that EJ needed to pay for his crimes, but he would only suffer consequences if Dimitri helped.

Dimitri agreed to go to Salem with Rafe if Gwen remained in Alamainia until he had received assurances that Gwen would be charged with her crimes. Rafe insisted that Gwen go back too. Dimitri refused. Frustrated, Leo argued that what he and Dimitri had done to Gwen was just as bad as what she had done to Dimitri. As Dimitri and Gwen said hurtful things to one another, Leo yelled at them to move on.

“She stole my one chance at love. She stole my one chance at happiness,” Dimitri argued. Dimitri said he could never forgive Gwen for that. Leo offered to stay if Dimitri agreed to let Rafe and Gwen go.

All About the Water

Chief water inspector, Devlin St. John, paid Paulina a visit in her office to discuss the tainted well on Smith Island. Devlin pressed Paulina to tell him about any lingering concerns, but she said that the investigation had concluded to her satisfaction. Devlin thanked Paulina for her help as she left for a meeting. “What you don’t know, Madam Mayor, won’t hurt you,” Devlin said.

Devlin visited Julie in her home to ask about the well decontamination. Devlin grumbled about Julie's decision to clean the well before the city had given her permission to proceed. After Devlin waxed poetic about water, he told Julie that his concern was the source of the contamination. Devlin asked Julie if she had seen anything suspicious on her land on Smith Island. Julie admitted she had not heard about anyone near the cabin. Relieved, Devlin said that Julie’s assurances had convinced him that no further investigation was needed.

Devlin went to the DiMera mansion to see EJ. “It’s exactly how I pictured it. Gothic revival meets a bachelor pad for ghosts,” Devlin commented. Devlin introduced himself to Rita, and they shared a lingering handshake. Rita explained that EJ was asleep with the flu, but Devlin insisted on speaking to him. Flustered, Rita noted that she did not want to disappoint such a handsome gentleman. Devlin blushed.

“Flattery will get you absolutely everywhere, Miss Lesley. It’s actually one of my top three weaknesses. Right behind historical documentaries and direct sunlight,” Devlin said. Devlin explained that wanted to avoid a formal complaint, so he needed to speak to EJ. Rita agreed. Once Devlin was alone with EJ, Devlin explained that he was golfing buddies with the head of DiMera Pharmaceuticals. Devlin said that George had drunkenly confessed all the details of the Coriseal cover-up.
