While in denial, Will and Gabi Hernandez (Cherie Jiminez) had sex, resulting in Gabi becoming pregnant. Gabi was torn over the pregnancy, but she married Nick Fallon (Blake Berris), following his release from prison. She convinced Nick to raise her child as his own. Gabi fibbed that she and Nick had hooked up right after he was sprung from jail to explain the timeline of her conception. Chad DiMera (soon-to-be Conner Floyd) didn't buy Gabi's version of the events that led to her being pregnant. He later learned the truth about her pregnancy. Nick became obsessed with both Gabi and Arianna. Gabi confessed to shooting and killing Nick, which earned her a lengthy jail sentence. That left Will and Sonny (Freddie Smith; later, Zach Tinker) to raise Ari. Things became further complicated when Nick turned up alive, and Will had an affair with Paul Narita (Christopher Sean). Both of these factors disrupted Ari's home life. Then, Will died after being strangled to death by Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson), but he came back from the dead, as folks on DAYS are known to do! Before Will came back to life, Sonny had gone to Paris to deal with his grief. He later came back to Salem, which gave Ari some stability. Gabi brought Ari to Will, hoping it would jar his memory. Her plan worked as Will felt a connection to his daughter. In more recent years, an aged Ari has been having romances of her own. She shared a quick romance with Doug Williams III (Peyton Meyer).
