Comings & Goings: General Hospital star Sofia Mattsson checks into Days of our Lives

General Hospital fan favorite Sofia Mattsson is returning to daytime. But she's not coming back to Port Charles. Instead, the actress is joining Days of our Lives in a mystery role. However, there may be a clue as to who she's playing based on some photographs!

From General Hospital to Days of our Lives

The news of Mattsson's new gig has been announced on the official DAYS Instagram account. You can see in the photo above that the actress is standing outside her DAYS dressing room. "Sofia Mattsson is making her way to Salem early next year! 💙⏳," reads the post.

Interestingly, Mattsson's light brown hair is gone, and in its place are some darker tresses. Did Mattsson have to color her hair for the new role? Or had she done it anyway, and her hair color is irrelevant?

If Mattsson has been hired to take the place of an actress previously on the show who has darker hair, then it makes sense that she has colored her hair. Or the actress could have changed her hair on her own. Viewers will have to tune in to find out!

The perils of Sasha

Sasha had a happy ending on GH after she and Michael's (Rory Gibson) daughter, Daisy, went to live with her father, Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), to be safe. She went through many ordeals during her time in Port Charles.

Sasha and Brando (the late Johnny Wactor) lost their son, Liam Mike Corbin, shortly after he was born. Then, Sasha suffered another loss when Brando, her husband, was killed by the "Hook" (AKA Heather Webber, played by Alley Mills).

Following Brando's death, Sasha's mother-in-law, Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs), grabbed control of Sasha's finances, leaving Sasha without funds and feeling betrayed by Brando's mom.

Sasha also battled drug addiction. She had first come to town as Valentin's (James Patrick Stuart) pawn, as he passed her off as Nina's (Cynthia Watros) missing daughter. Nina felt deeply betrayed by Sasha, but, over time, the two women forged a loving friendship.

In a shocking twist, viewers learned that Sasha was the long-lost love child of Robert Scorpio and Holly Sutton (Emma Samms). Suddenly, Sasha, who had lost much of her family, suddenly had plenty of relatives. As Holly and Robert's daughter, she's related to Robin (Kimberly McCullough), Ethan (Nathan Dean), Mac Scorpio (John J. York), Emma Scorpio-Drake (Braedyn Bruner), and Noah Drake (Robin and Patrick's son).

Why did Holly leave her daughter in England to be raised by her mother, Sasha's grandmother? Back in the day, Robert and Holly were always being torn apart by either her supposed death or his. Their lives were often in danger.

Is it possible that Mattsson will reprise Sasha for a memorial episode for Robert (when the show writes in the passing of his portrayer, Tristan Rogers)? Maybe.
