Days of our Lives villainess Vivian Alamain has been mentioned in some recent air shows in light of the death of her son, Stefan. Now, Vivian is going to be seen on-screen as her portrayer, Louise Sorel, is returning to the airwaves next week.

Sorel last appeared on DAYS in 2025. The fan favorite made her debut in Salem in 1992 as Vivian Alamain, the aunt of Lawrence Alamain (Michael Sabatino). She was determined to keep little Nicholas (Erik Von Detten) away from his biological mother, Carly (Crystal Chappell).
Nicholas accidentally killed Lisanne Gardner (Lynn Herring), but her death was unintentional. Around this time, Vivian buried Carly alive in one of the show's most famous storylines. Lawrence dug up Carly before she died. She recovered, and then she, Lawrence, and Nicholas left Salem together. Vivian stayed behind to cause havoc in the lives of Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Victor (John Aniston).
In 2017, Sorel returned to the show on New Year's Eve as Vivian. She brought with him Stefan O. DiMera (Tyler Christopher; later, Brandon Barash), Stefano's (Joe Macolo) son.
What's bringing Vivian back this time
Vivian is tied to the DiMera clan through her son, fathered by Stefano (Joe Mascolo). Viewers learned that Stefan had died, but has he truly gone to that great soap opera in the sky?
Not that long ago, Stefano's other surviving children were all kidnapped by his adoptive son, Peter Blake (Dan Gauthier). Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk), Peter's biological sibling, saved the day by clubbing her brother over the head with a bone. Is that bone connected somehow to Vivian's return?
Sorel is also known to soap opera fans for her turn as Augusta Lockridge on Santa Barbara. She was an original cast member on the show and appeared on and off through 1991.

Three other actresses have temporarily played Vivian over the years. Marj Dusay ( ex-Myrna, Capitol, ex-Alexandra, Guiding Light, ex-Vanessa, All My Children) played the part briefly in 1993.
