Days of our Lives preview: Chad's kidnapping alters dynamics with Jack and Jen 

Days of our Lives fans got a very happy holiday when a kidnapped Chad returned home to reunite with his children, Thomas and Charlotte, in time for Christmas. Now that the holidays are over, however, what's going to happen with Chad and Thomas and Charlotte's maternal grandparents, Jack and Jennifer?

The Young and the Restless, dear Abby

Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Jack (Matthew Ashford) didn't take advantage of Chad (Billy Flynn) having been kidnapped and, therefore, being a no-show when custody of his kids, Thomas (Cary Christopher) and Charlotte (Autumn Gendron), was on the line.

However, Chad's home and the holidays are over. Does this mean that everything is off the table? “Chad’s kidnapping will alter the dynamic of this story as Chad, Jennifer, and Jack try to honor Abigail’s [Marci Miller] memory in a way that allows them to move forward," DAYS head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford jointly told TV Insider.

Jack and Jen were all set to permanently relocate Thomas and Charlotte to Boston with them. Now, that may be off as Chad has come home. Everyone is thrilled that Chad is safe, but the issues that led to the custody drama before his being kidnapped by his brother, Peter (Dan Gauthier), still exist.

Jennifer wants nothing more than to protect her late daughter's kids. Thomas, especially, has been deeply hurt by his father's association with Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord), the woman who pretended to be Abigail.

Chad may have seen past Cat's reasons for duplicity, but Jennifer and Thomas have not! Chad had promised Thomas that he would stay away from Cat, but the youngster saw his father break that promise. He went running out into the street and was injured by a car. Thomas recovered from his physical injuries, but his heart was still in a million pieces.

This has only strengthened Jennifer's resolve to do what's best for both her grandchildren. She feels that since Abigail isn't here to do what's right by Thomas and Charlotte, then Jennifer must step in and keep them safe.
