Soap Central reported the Days of our Lives news earlier this year that Raven Bowens and Carson Boatman, who play Chanel and Johnny, were leaving the show. Now, Bowens is giving an update on her next move! Quote the RavenView on TikTokBowens took to TikTok (see her post above) to share with her followers her upcoming plans and some details on how she learned that she'd be exiting the Peacock drama. The actress says that she learned her run in Salem was coming to an end just after New Year's Day on January 2. Bowens quipped that she learned her fate before she even got started on her New Year's resolutions. "I spent five years working on DAYS," Bowens said. "I played Chanel Dupree for five years. I love my character. I love the show. I love everyone I work with. I had just signed a new contract for nine months, but every 13 months, your contract can not be renewed." Bowens reveals that when the phone rang at 8 a.m., she was completely blindsided. "I just remember being in bed," she says. "My sister was in town. [I thought], 'Why would my producer be calling me on January 2? We don't go back to work for a week. Something is going on. I think I'm getting fired.'" Bowens' sister attempted to remain optimistic, telling her sibling that she was wrong. "That's what the call was," laments Bowens. "I was told [by the show] that they didn't have a storyline for me at the moment, so they would be writing my character off at the end of my current storyline." Bowens is attempting to remain philosophical about the mercurial nature of show business. "Now, while that isn't fun, that is the business of show business," she offers, "especially on a soap opera, so it is what it is. That was the contract I signed. I had to accept it." I got comfortable. All of this made me realize that it was time for me to step into my next chapter."Bowens clarifies that her next chapter is going to include acting, but she's also expanding her horizons. "I love [acting]," she says. "I will never give it up, and I will never quit." The actress hastens to add that learning that she was leaving DAYS made her realize how important it is to have other streams of income. How the daytime star is going to go about this remains to be seen. But she is inviting her followers to go along with her on the journey. "Follow along," she says. "Let's figure out how to make a million!" There's no word on when exactly Chanel and Johnny will make their last appearances as of now.
