Days of our Lives Spoilers August 20: Alex Supports Joy Through Devastating News

Days of our Lives brings the drama on Thursday when Kayla has a long and terrifying talk with Joy. According to spoilers for August 20, 2026, Alex has to be there for Joy, Stephanie vents, and Gwen shares a tender reunion.

More Trouble for Joy...and Stephanie

Stephanie (Abigail Klein) has been trying to be the bigger person, but that's easier said than done through Joy's (AlexAnn Hopkins) many, many problems. From health insurance woes to car accidents, Joy has seen it all in a very short period of time. Now, she is in the hospital with spinal stenosis that doesn't seem to be improving.

Joy is stunned when Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) tells her that she is looking at potential paralysis. The prognosis seemed good only two weeks ago and now this is happening. As expected, Joy turns to Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) for comfort and he is more than happy to give it.

This does not sit well with Stephanie at all, who finds herself venting to her ex, Chad (Conner Floyd). Stephanie is doing the best she can to put on a smile and not lose it because there is an innocent baby involved, but there is only so much that she can take.

Will Chad have any words of advice? His love life is finally going right now that he has found a comfortable romance with Belle (Martha Madison).

Leo Is Back

After laying it all on the line with Dimitri (Peter Porte), Leo (Greg Rikaart) finally managed to convince the delusional man that he doesn't love him and he should let him go. Dimitri really thought he could force things between him and Leo, but it was to no avail. Leo wanted nothing at all to do with him.

When Leo returns to Salem, he reunites with Gwen (Emily O'Brien) at the Salem Inn. Gwen is stunned to see that Dimitri actually did the right thing and let Leo go. But what does this mean for Leo and Javi (Jacob Martinez)?

Javi's romance with Gus (Michael Ocampo) has not been going smoothly because Gus can see that Javi has unresolved feelings for Leo. Gus confronts Javi about those feelings. Does this mean the end of Gus and Javi?
