Days of our Lives is still beyond Salem on Thursday, but that little arc seems to be coming to an end. According to spoilers for September 17, 2026, EJ's wish comes true in Europe, while a nightmare is unfolding for some back home.
Not a Fruitless Endeavor
EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) traveled to Italy with Belle (Martha Madison) and Chad (Conner Floyd) under the pretense of wanting to surprise his daughter, but he found that she wasn't even there. Sydney had taken off to the French Riviera, but that was okay. EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) was perfectly fine seeing what Belle and Chad could find about that chess set, which was his real reason for taking the trip.
At least he will get to see his daughter before he leaves. Sydney (Sydney Malakeh) surprises EJ in Italy, but does she give him another surprise besides her presence? Maybe she will return home to Salem with him after all these years.
As for Belle and Chad, they have a disagreement when Chad objects to Belle's suggestion. Does she want to dig for more clues or is she ready to go home? Perhaps her suggestion is of the romantic kind. Belle and Chad did take their relationship to the next level on this trip, so what could Chad really be objecting to?
Strange Relations
Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) and Stephanie (Abigail Klein) are oddly closer than ever, as they seem to understand each other the way others can't. They always seem to run into each other at the moment they need a friend the most. That leads Theo to turn to Lani (Sal Stowers) for advice.
When Theo makes a confession to Lani, does he tell her that not only did he quit his job at DiMera, but he is also developing feelings for Stephanie Johnson of all people? That would come as quite a surprise to Lani, as she never had a married woman on her radar for her brother.

Stephanie is not the one who asks for advice on Thursday, but instead, Paulina (Jackee Harry) turns to her for advice. They are not exactly friends, so does Paulina want to speak to Stephanie about a professional city matter?
