Days of our Lives is welcoming Dan Gauthier, best known to soap fans for his turn as Kevin Buchanan on One Life to Live, to the show's cast. His debut will be on Friday, December 19. But the actor's got a big day today, too! He's celebrating his birthday on December 2!

Gauthier was born in Prineville, Oregon, on December 2nd. In addition to his role on OLTL, he's also known for playing Matt Liston on Ellen (the sitcom), Brad in the 1989 film Teen Witch, and he was Lt. John McKay on Tour of Duty, the CBS military drama.
After college, Gauthier worked as a model with the Ford and Nina Blanchard modeling agencies. His first TV credit was a guest spot on Married With Children. When Tour of Duty wrapped, Gauthier made guest spot appearances on Life Goes On, Silk Stalkings, and Who's the Boss?
In the mid-1990s, the actor landed a series regular role in Courthouse, which starred Patricia Wettig (Nancy, thirtysomething) as Judge Justin Parkes. Alas, the legal drama only lasted nine episodes. Friends fans recall Gauthier as Chip, Rachel's (Jennifer Aniston) and Monica's (Courteney Cox) high school pal, who never quite managed to grow up. Next came a role on Melrose Place as Jeff Baylor, a baseball player.
Jeff's promising baseball career was sidelined after he suffered a knee injury. He fell in love with Samantha Reilly (Brooke Langton), who was married to Billy Campbell (Andrew Shue). After Samantha and Billy split, Jeff and Samantha rode off into the sunset together.
From Llanview to Salem
In 2003, Gauthier became the eleventh actor to play the role of Kevin, Viki's (Erika Slezak) son with the late Joe Riley (Lee Patterson). Gauthier received a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work on the show.

The actor will pop up in Salem later this month as Peter, the role originated by Jason Brooks. Peter is Kristen's (Stacy Haiduk) brother. They were adopted by Stefano when they were children. Peter's siblings include EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), Tony (Thaao Penghlis), and Chad (Billy Flynn).
