At this point on Days of our Lives, Chad is still stuck awkwardly orbiting both Cat and EJ while half the town quietly wonders what fresh disaster is coming next. Which is exactly why Jennifer suddenly forgiving Cat offscreen after therapy with Jack felt less like a payoff and more like somebody skipping three chapters in the middle of the book.

What if Days of our Lives brought Jack and Jennifer home for good

Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) forgiving Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) should have been a big deal. This is not some random misunderstanding over a stolen muffin at Sweet Bits. Cat spent months tangled up in one of the most emotionally ugly Abigail-adjacent situations Salem has seen in years. Jennifer's rage over that made complete sense. So, hearing that she and Jack (Matthew Ashford) worked through everything in therapy offscreen honestly felt like the show robbed itself of scenes that could have carried real emotional weight.

Now imagine if Jack and Jennifer actually stayed in Salem full-time instead. Suddenly, those therapy breakthroughs become active story instead of exposition dumped into one conversation in the town square. Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) could guide Jennifer through the grief and identity mess tied to Abigail, while Jack keeps trying to hold together a family that still feels emotionally splintered in six different directions. Instead of “Jennifer got better,” viewers would actually watch her fight to get there.

It would also finally let Chad (Conner Floyd) breathe again emotionally. Right now, he keeps bouncing between grief, confusion, Cat tension, and EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) chaos without any real family support system onscreen. Jack and Jennifer's permanent return to Salem would change that instantly. Suddenly, Chad has people challenging him, protecting him, and possibly making his relationship with Cat even messier because Jennifer clearly is not fully comfortable with that situation, no matter how polite she sounded this week.

Gwen and the Abigail fallout could finally explode properly

The other reason this matters is Gwen (Emily O’Brien). Jack reconnecting with her recently was genuinely one of the strongest emotional beats he has had in ages, mostly because it felt messy and unfinished in the right way. Jennifer has never fully known what to do with Gwen emotionally, and Gwen herself tends to approach family relationships like a raccoon holding a lit firecracker. Keeping Jack and Jennifer in Salem means that tension finally gets room to breathe.

And honestly, Jennifer staying around while Jack builds a relationship with Gwen creates actual conflict instead of temporary turbulence that everybody forgets two weeks later. Would Jennifer genuinely support Jack embracing Gwen after everything tied to Abigail? Would Gwen trust Jennifer’s attempts at peace? Or would years of resentment start bubbling back up the second another family crisis hits Salem? Because Salem absolutely will provide one by Thursday.

Most importantly, bringing fan favorites Jack and Jennifer home permanently would reconnect DAYS to one of its strongest emotional foundations again. Salem works best when legacy families feel active instead of being scattered across offscreen airports and temporary Boston apartments. Right now, the show has grief, secrets, medical trauma, DiMera madness, and multiple broken family dynamics already in motion. Jack and Jennifer staying would not just add nostalgia. It would add stakes.
