Days of our Lives spent the week proving that a stuffed narwhal, a mystery chess set, an experimental miracle drug, and a possible murder conspiracy can all coexist without anybody stopping to ask whether perhaps things have gotten a little out of hand.
EJ spent most of the week trying to be a better man before immediately stumbling into evidence that Kristen may have helped set Johnny’s attack in motion. Chad and Theo turned Stefano’s final gift into a scavenger hunt. Lexie’s health remained a giant question mark. Meanwhile, Holly’s island getaway went from summer fun to medical emergency faster than anybody could finish a plate of s’mores.
EJ Finally Starts Seeing the Bigger Picture

For weeks, viewers have known Kristen was tangled up in Sophia’s plot against Johnny. EJ, however, has been operating with only scattered pieces of the puzzle. This week felt like the moment those pieces finally started sliding into place.
The groundwork was laid early. Johnny spent much of the week trying to move forward rather than dwell on old grudges. He even encouraged EJ to stop wasting energy on revenge and focus on something more productive. That advice may have landed harder than Johnny realized, because by Friday, EJ was paying attention to details instead of plotting his next war.
Those details mattered. Lani casually reminded Kristen that she had asked for a souvenir from the Chicago aquarium trip that Chanel and Lani had taken with the children. Later, Johnny pointed out that Sophia somehow knew Chanel would be out of town the day he was attacked. He also raised another troubling question: where exactly did a teenager get a gun with the serial number filed off?
Suddenly, that innocent conversation about the aquarium did not seem so innocent anymore. EJ remembered and the pieces connected. By the end of the episode, he was charging off to confront Kristen. Salem has seen many EJ tantrums over the years, but this one felt different because he finally had a good reason.
The Miracle Drug Keeps Looking Less Miraculous

The week began with Chanel refusing Paulina’s campaign to get EJ’s experimental treatment. Given the circumstances, Chanel’s position was difficult to argue with. She already had a treatment plan. She was pregnant. Becoming a test subject for a DiMera miracle cure was not exactly a comforting alternative.
At the same time, Cat was becoming increasingly convinced that something was wrong with the drug itself. Mark practically confirmed her fears when he reacted so strongly to questions about it. Whatever is happening behind the scenes, neither sibling seems eager to see their mother anywhere near that medication.
Meanwhile, Lexie continued serving as the unofficial test case. Dr. Rolf insisted he had improved the formula and repeatedly assured everyone that more serum was the answer. Unfortunately, hearing Rolf enthusiastically talk about “topping her off” with additional doses sounded less like medicine and more like the opening act of a horror movie.
EJ’s behavior raised questions too. If he truly believed the drug was completely safe, why hesitate when Paulina asked for it? Even after Rolf reported immediate improvement in Lexie’s condition, EJ looked far from reassured. Salem residents have heard promises about miracle cures before. They rarely stay miraculous for long.
Chad and Theo Become Salem’s Least Qualified Treasure Hunters

Stefano may be gone, but apparently he still has enough free time to send people on elaborate puzzle quests from beyond the grave.
After Belle brought the mysterious chess set left to Marlena and John to Chad, he quickly became invested in figuring out what Stefano was hiding. The missing pawn already suggested there was more to the gift than met the eye. By midweek, theories were flying in every direction.
The breakthrough came when Theo remembered a similar chess set from years ago. Unlike most people in Salem, Theo actually approached the problem logically instead of dramatically. That paid off when he discovered a hidden compartment containing a skeleton key.
Naturally, finding one secret compartment only led to another. Chad later realized the key fit into a concealed slot built into the chess set itself. Instead of immediately opening whatever Stefano left behind, he called Belle and asked her to meet him at the Pub.
The whole thing feels exactly like something Stefano would design. A normal person leaves instructions. Stefano leaves puzzles, secret compartments, missing pieces, and enough clues to keep people occupied for months. The good news is Chad and Theo finally made progress. The bad news is that anything connected to Stefano usually becomes more dangerous the closer somebody gets to the answer.
Abe, Paulina, and Lexie Remain Stuck in the Middle

If anybody hoped Lexie’s return would heal old wounds, this week offered little evidence of that. Abe and Paulina continued drifting further apart despite obvious feelings on both sides. Their anniversary arrived under circumstances that could hardly have been more awkward. Abe brought flowers. Paulina tried to protect herself. Neither seemed capable of finding common ground.
Lexie found herself caught in the middle of that tension. Her return changed everything, whether anybody wanted to admit it or not. Theo and Lani spent part of the week discussing how fragile the situation had become, while Abe seemed determined to avoid making choices that would hurt anyone.
The problem is that refusing to choose becomes its own choice after a while. Paulina clearly understands that. Lexie appears to be realizing it too. By Friday, she was openly encouraging Abe to stop sleeping in the guest room and confront reality.
At this point, it is becoming difficult to imagine a scenario where everyone walks away happy. The longer the situation drags on, the more likely somebody ends up disappointed, and Salem rarely misses opportunities for emotional collateral damage.
Titan’s Problems Somehow Got Bigger

Just when it seemed Titan had accumulated every possible problem, the company managed to collect a few more. Kate’s legal maneuvering continued creating headaches, while Alex found himself juggling family drama, corporate instability, and Joy’s insistence that Stephanie stay away from Kelsey. None of those issues looked particularly close to resolution.
Fortunately, Gabi arrived carrying something Titan desperately needed: money. Unfortunately, she was not interested in simply handing it over. Instead, Gabi negotiated herself a seat at the table. Her investment bought her influence, a position on the board, and a voice in the company’s future. Given Gabi’s history, nobody should expect her to sit quietly through meetings.
The Xander-Philip dynamic remained entertaining, as well. Xander continued pushing Philip toward forgiveness, while Philip resisted almost every suggestion placed in front of him. Their conversations occasionally sounded less like corporate strategy sessions and more like two brothers trapped in a very long argument they started years ago and forgot how to finish.
Holly’s Getaway Ends in Disaster

The Horton cabin trip started with alcohol, flirting, swimming, and the kind of confidence that usually guarantees trouble is coming. Holly tried to enjoy herself despite growing concerns about Amy’s lawsuit. Tate did his best to keep her distracted. Aaron and Ari contributed ghost stories, campfire energy, and increasingly uncomfortable reminders that this group probably should not be left unsupervised.
Meanwhile, Holly continued feeling unwell. She blamed medication side effects and tried to push through it. That explanation worked for a while, but not forever. In the end, the mood shifted dramatically. After spending the evening listening to ghost stories and trying to ignore her growing physical symptoms, Holly suddenly collapsed.
The timing could hardly have been worse. Between the impending lawsuit (which, by the way, begs the question: how did the guy who served her find her on a tiny island?), the medication issues, and the growing questions surrounding Destiny’s death and the mysterious drug connection, Holly’s collapse feels unlikely to be a random event. While Salem loves coincidences, it loves conspiracies even more.
Join us next time when Chad inevitably discovers Stefano’s chess set contains three more hidden compartments, a map to another tunnel, instructions written in invisible ink, and the entry forms for the annual “Who Can Calculate Pi the Furthest While Being Chased by DiMera Henchmen?” competition.
