Smoke, Fire, Stones, and Sophia : Days of our Lives Two Scoops for the week of April 27th

Days of our Lives spent the week proving that one bad idea is never enough when six worse ones are available and someone has access to a gun, a bridge, and far too much confidence. Joy returned with a baby, Stephanie tried to rebuild her sense of control, Kristen treated murder like a mentoring program, and Sophia made several choices that suggest Bayview may have needed a stronger exit survey.

What happened on Days of our Lives?

Alex had barely caught his breath when Joy showed up at his door with baby Kelsey, claiming the child was his. She insisted she did not need anything from him and would do a DNA test if he wanted one, which sounded lovely until Jeremy’s involvement became clear. Alex melted once he held the baby, but the moment still came across like a safe dropped into the middle of his marriage.

Stephanie came home in a good mood after gun training, and Alex had a small moment before telling her the truth. That pause mattered because he was not trying to be casual about any of this. He knew exactly what this could do to them, and once Stephanie heard about Joy and Kelsey, she went straight to the obvious question and asked whether this was some sign that Alex should have a child with someone else.

By the next day, Stephanie ran out after telling Alex that Joy had given him something she might not be able to. Alex pushed Joy to speed up the paternity test, while Stephanie ended up in Jeremy’s arms. That was not the end of the problem, but it was the start of Jeremy making everything worse with the kind of timing that should probably require a permit.

Stephanie finally sees Jeremy clearly

Jeremy spent a good chunk of the week pretending he wanted to help Stephanie and Alex, but Joy saw through that fairly quickly. He claimed he only told Joy to return because Alex had a right to know about his daughter, yet his comments about Stephanie deserving better than Alex did not exactly scream neutral party. Salem men do love dressing up an agenda as a concern and hoping nobody notices the hat.

Stephanie did notice, eventually. When she realized Jeremy was the reason Joy had returned, everything changed. It was bad enough that he had inserted himself into her marriage, but then he kissed her while she was upset and trying to make sense of her life. That was not romantic. That was Jeremy pushing into a vulnerable moment and mistaking proximity for permission.

Stephanie’s response was exactly what it needed to be. She told him that even if she were single, she would never be with him again because of what he had done to her in the past. Then she told him she did not want him in her life in any way. Jeremy said goodbye and left town, but the man still gives off the energy of someone who is always one bad conversation away from sprinting back into the plot.

Kristen and Sophia turn revenge into something worse

Sophia started the week by creating a fake social media account and posting cruel comments about herself, then watched as the dorm group took the bait. Holly calling her an evil genius seemed to hit Sophia in a strange way, as if nobody had ever handed her that particular job title before. By midweek, Kristen arrived with an unregistered gun and instructions that were somehow even worse than the idea of just getting back at someone.

Kristen told Sophia to kill Johnny, throw the gun into the Salem River, and disappear. She framed it as revenge on EJ through the loss of his son, but Kristen was also still furious about Sophia using Rachel. Sophia did not shoot Johnny, but she did mace him, tie him up, and rig his apartment with gas fumes and nail polish remover as an accelerant. Somewhere, a fire marshal probably felt a disturbance in the force.

The Thursday explosion fake-out worked because the show let it look like Chanel had arrived at the apartment. Instead, Johnny was still tied up and dreaming of her return. But a heroic Javi got there in time to rescue him after being alerted to a possible gas leak. Sophia, meanwhile, wrote a suicide note and prepared to meet Kristen. The whole thing had already spun far beyond revenge, which is usually when Kristen starts acting like she is the only sane person in the room.

Kristen may have completely embraced the Dark Side

Friday took the story to the bridge, where Sophia met Kristen and tossed the gun into the river. Kristen told her to make the suicide look real by dropping her bag, throwing away her shoes, and touching the railing to leave fingerprints. Sophia believed she was heading to Paris with money and a new life, because apparently nobody told her never to trust Kristen DiMera near water, rocks, or anonymous henchmen.

Then Kristen hit her over the head with a rock. The moment was not accidental, emotional, or even especially chaotic. It was planned and evilly calculated. Kristen wanted Sophia punished for what she had done to Rachel, and Johnny’s supposed death was almost a bonus prize in a very disturbing raffle. She turned a troubled and mentally ill young woman into a weapon, then decided the weapon needed to disappear.

This was darker than Kristen’s usual brand of DiMera disaster. She has kidnapped, lied, impersonated, drugged, and generally treated morality like a decorative object someone else bought for the room. But taking advantage of Sophia’s fragile state, steering her toward murder, then having two men throw her into the river shifted the story into colder territory. When Kristen smirked after tossing the bloody rock, the show was not leaving much room for debate.

Johnny survives while Chanel gets another blow

Johnny began the week trying to support Chanel while they waited for answers about her breast lump. He planned to work from home, which left him exactly where Sophia needed him to be. By Wednesday, EJ visited with news about the plagiarism lawsuit and talked about spending time together before Stefano’s will reading, which gave Johnny a decent father-son moment right before everything went sideways.

Sophia’s attack put Johnny in immediate danger, but the larger tragedy was that Chanel could not reach him while she was at the hospital. Sarah told Chanel the radiologist wanted more images of her left breast, and Chanel kept trying to call Johnny as her fear grew. Thursday made it look like she had left and walked into the fire, but Friday revealed she was still at the hospital, and Johnny had been dreaming. It was a fake-out we could appreciate because she’ll finally get the treatment she needs.

The relief did not last, though. Johnny was brought in after Javi saved him, and he told Sarah that Sophia tried to kill him. Chanel rushed to his side but kept her own news to herself. Sarah had told her a biopsy was needed, but the tumor appeared malignant. So while Johnny survived one nightmare, Chanel was handed another one and chose not to share it yet.

Marlena gets pulled back toward Stefano

Marlena also agreed to help EJ recover his missing memories from Italy, though she first tried to send him to another therapist. Lately, she has been offering opinions in ways that feel a little more personal than clinical, especially with Xander and EJ. It’s not wrong for Marlena to care, but Salem has never been kind to boundaries, and Stefano’s name tends to make every boundary wobble like a card table at a church picnic during a hailstorm.

Abe, meanwhile, pressed Theo about stepping down from DiMera and being named executor of Stefano’s will. He also made a comment about Stefano never having a child with Marlena, which felt like the kind of sentence a show says only when it wants everyone to sit up straighter. With Marlena now invited to the will reading, the lingering Queen of the Night dreams may not be finished business after all.

Everyone else keeps shifting pieces around

Gabi accepted Titan’s offer for Gabi Chic after meeting Philip in his office, even though DiMera had the better deal. She insisted personal feelings were not driving the choice, despite living in the mansion and clearly wanting Titan to survive. In Salem business terms, that was practically a sworn affidavit that personal feelings were driving the choice.

At the bookstore, Ari confronted Sophia and told her she had no friends because of her own behavior. Liam started his first day, only for Gabi to recognize him as one of the men involved in the DiMera kidnapping. He wanted to stay away from Ari anyway, so at least everyone briefly agreed on one sensible thing.

Brady and Sarah also had a few moments while Brady dealt with Rachel’s situation, and later learned Sophia’s fingerprints were on Holly’s pill bottle. Sarah asked whether the rage room had a loyalty program after hearing how difficult Xander was making things for Marlena, which may have been the most practical suggestion anyone made all week. Brady then wanted Sophia brought in, though Jada said the fingerprint report only allowed questioning, not an arrest. However, Johnny pointing blame at her has upgraded Sophia’s person of interest status to full-on BOLO material.

Friday ended with several problems still moving. Brady and Jada found Sophia’s suicide note after Amy realized her daughter had climbed out the window. Holly and Tate tore into Sophia before she left, with Holly saying part of her wished Sophia really were dead. That could come back in the future to bite her. Javi collapsed while talking to Sarah. Chanel stayed by Johnny without telling him about her test results. At the bridge, Kristen’s men threw Sophia into the river, and Kristen tossed the bloody rock after her.

Join us next time when Salem hopefully discovers that bridges, secret wills, and nail polish remover are not a healthy conflict-resolution toolkit.
