Days of our Lives spent the week juggling fake paralysis, surprise siblings, endangered reputations, pardons, gambling temptations, and one very alive young woman who was supposed to be dead. Kristen found Sophia hiding in Kentucky and somehow wound up giving her genuinely decent advice by Friday.
Joy’s increasingly elaborate scheme started showing cracks big enough for Stephanie to see through. Meanwhile, Xander and Philip trashed their own house to save it, which sounds ridiculous until you remember this is the same town where hidden tunnels count as basic home features.
Sophia’s return put Kristen in a surprisingly different role

Kristen and Sophia started the week in an uneasy truce after Kristen tracked her down at a diner in Kentucky. Sophia remembered almost everything that happened before she disappeared, although she still did not remember Kristen striking her with a rock. That was probably the only reason their reunion did not immediately turn into mutual destruction. Sophia was still willing to use what she knew as leverage, while Kristen was relieved she was alive and not quite ready to admit how much guilt she was carrying.
The situation became even messier once Sophia demanded the money Kristen had promised her. Kristen agreed, but when she finally received Brady’s message about Rachel, everything changed. She insisted Sophia come back to Salem with her, which is not exactly the sort of travel arrangement most people would voluntarily choose. Sophia followed anyway, leaving behind the life she had built as Amelia and stepping right back into the town where nearly everyone believed she had died.
By Friday, Kristen became the last person anyone expected to give Sophia thoughtful advice. She urged Sophia to tell her mother she was alive and explained that Amy believed she had failed her daughter so completely that Sophia took her own life. Kristen understood Sophia’s fear of prison, but she also understood what it meant to lose time with a child. Her point was simple and painful: Sophia’s mother was serving her own kind of life sentence.
Sophia clearly heard her. She admitted that part of her wanted her family to know she was alive and doing better, even though she still could not risk exposing herself. Then she watched Johnny pushing Trey through the square without letting him know she was there. Sophia may be physically back in Salem, but she is still living like a ghost. That is going to get harder the longer she stays.
Kristen had her own reunion to worry about. Brady learned the extent of what she had done involving Sophia and Johnny and decided he wanted her nowhere near Rachel. Sarah was supposed to alert hospital security, but Kristen had already slipped into Rachel’s room disguised as a nurse. Brady demanded that she leave, Kristen refused, and then Rachel opened her eyes and saw her mother. For once, Kristen’s worst timing may also have been exactly what Rachel needed.
Joy’s fake paralysis started getting harder to manage

Joy spent the week discovering that pretending not to walk requires considerably more planning than she appears to have done. Stephanie nearly caught her out of the wheelchair on Monday and was certain she saw Joy’s leg move as she sat back down. That moment was enough to make Stephanie suspicious, and once that suspicion took hold, Joy’s arrangement with Alex became far more dangerous.
Alex had already started tiring of the tension. Joy’s behavior toward Stephanie pushed him to decide she needed to move somewhere else, which should have been a warning that her plan was going sideways. Instead of backing off, Joy kept looking for ways to stay close to him. She was still leaning on sympathy while Alex was increasingly focused on finding a practical arrangement that worked for Kelsey.
Then came Thursday and the baby monitor, Salem’s enemy of privacy. Joy overheard Stephanie tell Alex that she believed Joy was faking. That gave Joy just enough time to start damage control before Alex could fully process the accusation. Unfortunately for Joy, panic did not improve her judgment.
She took more medication, tried to act as though nothing was wrong, and then started flirting with Tate while Alex was nearby. That may have been intended to convince him that she was not interested in him, but it had all the subtlety of setting off fireworks in a library. Asking about Tate’s relationship status did not help. Neither did the fact that she became woozy while working out.
The bigger problem is that too many people are now close to figuring this out. Stephanie already saw something. Tate is spending time helping Joy with physical training. Alex is watching her behavior more closely. Joy may have started this scheme to keep control of Kelsey and stay close to Alex, but every new lie requires another performance. At some point, somebody is going to notice that the woman who cannot walk seems remarkably busy managing everyone around her.
Dominic’s shadow kept hanging over both major families

The Kiriakis family spent part of the week trying to make their own mansion look uninhabitable so Dominic would abandon the purchase. Xander and Philip sabotaged the property with rats, damaged plumbing, and other carefully arranged disasters. The inspector was not fooled for long, especially once he noticed the rat looked suspiciously domestic and the damage looked suspiciously intentional.
Somehow, the plan still worked. After the brothers admitted what they had done and explained why they were desperate to keep the house, the inspector agreed to report what he had technically seen. Then Dominic withdrew from the deal anyway, which saved everyone from discovering just how much farther Xander and Philip were prepared to go. Given enough time, they probably would have released livestock into the foyer.
Dominic’s name was causing even more trouble across town. EJ told Chad that Dominic might be another son of Stefano, which raised questions neither brother was eager to answer. EJ was already rattled by Rita’s disappearance and the missing Phoenix ring. If Dominic really is Stefano’s son, that would explain why Rita may have shifted her loyalty.
That possibility also pulled Cat back toward EJ. She had quit, but he stopped her from leaving and admitted he needed her help. What started as a work conversation quickly moved back into personal territory, and the two kissed after EJ asked her to investigate Dominic. Salem relationships rarely stay clean once espionage and secret siblings enter the picture.
The unanswered question is why Dominic backed out of the mansion purchase if he was so interested in the Kiriakis property in the first place. Belle noticed that too. A billionaire walking away from a deal over repair problems hardly feels convincing, especially when the potential buyer may also have a secret connection to Stefano. Dominic may not have appeared yet, but he still managed to steer half the week from offscreen.
Philip and Lani both got second chances with strings attached

Philip’s week looked deceptively good at first. The Kiriakis family got the mansion back, Titan was secure again, and he and Gabi were moving forward. Then Leo involved him in the counterfeit investigation by asking him to follow the money. That immediately put Philip dangerously close to the gambling world he had worked to leave behind.
Gabi recognized the danger before anyone else did. She would rather let the counterfeit operation continue than risk Philip slipping back into addiction. Leo did not seem to fully understand that risk, and Gwen made matters worse by encouraging Philip’s excitement over the family’s changing fortunes. Her interest in poker and the thrill of winning was exactly the kind of temptation he did not need.
Philip was visibly uncomfortable, which may be the best sign in his favor. He knows what this can cost him. The problem is that Salem rarely lets anyone stand near temptation without eventually pushing them closer. Between Leo’s investigation and Gwen’s enthusiasm, Philip has plenty of people accidentally helping him make the worst possible decision.
Lani, meanwhile, got a much happier second chance. Her pardon initially seemed dead, but Paulina kept pushing until the governor approved it. Jada then offered Lani her old job back, and Shawn supported the idea of them becoming partners again. Lani accepted, which finally gave her a path back to the career she lost.
Of course, the pardon comes with an obvious problem. Paulina is the mayor, and Lani is her daughter. Theo already pointed out how that can look, and Stephanie warned that public backlash could follow. Lani may be legally cleared, but Salem residents are unlikely to ignore the appearance of favoritism. Returning to the force may end up being easier than convincing everyone she earned the chance.
OUTRO
Join us next time when Sophia attempts to remain invisible in a town where everyone shops in the same square; Joy learns that legs are surprisingly difficult things to hide; and Dominic may finally arrive to explain why half of Salem has been rearranging its furniture because of him. Salem remains the only place where pretending to be dead is somehow less complicated than buying a house.
