Days of our Lives spent the week proving that bringing people back from the dead is somehow less complicated than managing a marriage, a custody situation, or a family secret. Lexie learned her miracle resurrection may come with an expiration date, Stephanie's life exploded after one terrible decision, and Paulina immediately decided that if one miracle drug existed, then surely another family crisis could be solved with it, too. Meanwhile, Kate's latest confession landed about as well as a skunk at a garden party, Gwen kept trying to outmaneuver EJ, and Alex discovered that making deals behind his wife's back rarely leads anywhere good.
Lexie's Miracle Comes With a Very Serious Catch

For one brief shining moment, Lexie's return looked like one of the rare Salem miracles that might actually stick. Unfortunately, Dr. Rolf's science project immediately started behaving like a Dr. Rolf science project. A dead lab rat, deteriorating neural pathways, and Lexie's own neurological symptoms quickly transformed a triumphant resurrection story into something much darker.
The most unsettling part was how quickly everyone seemed to move from successful resurrection to active panic. The same formula that brought Lexie back also re-killed one of Rolf's test rats, and Lexie began showing neurological symptoms that looked alarmingly familiar. Suddenly, the miracle cure started looking less like a cure and more like a ticking time bomb.
Even Dr. Rolf showed flashes of genuine concern, which may have been the biggest surprise of all. Salem's resident mad scientist has spent decades treating life and death like a chemistry experiment. Seeing him react with actual empathy toward Lexie's fears felt strangely human. That tenderness made the situation even sadder because everyone in the room understood the same thing. Lexie wasn't afraid of dying. She was afraid of dying all over again.
By week's end, Lexie was subtly hiding the severity of her condition from Abe and Theo while EJ scrambled for answers. Considering how much chaos her return already caused, the possibility of losing her again threatens to blow apart multiple families at once.
Stephanie's Nightmare Keeps Getting Worse

If there was a character who desperately needed a break this week, it was Stephanie. Unfortunately, Salem handed her a loaded gun, a severe lack of sleep, and a perfect storm of terrible timing.
After returning home, Stephanie woke up disoriented when Joy let herself into the apartment using the key Alex had thoughtfully handed over. What happened next changed everything. Stephanie mistook Joy for an intruder and fired her weapon. Thankfully, Joy wasn't physically injured, but the emotional damage was immediate.
The fallout spread quickly. Police reports were filed. Statements were taken. Joy made it very clear she was furious. Stephanie realized just how badly she had mishandled every aspect of firearm safety. And Alex found himself caught between his wife and his daughter's mother.
Then came the detail that may end up mattering later. Kayla pointed out that Stephanie had exceeded the recommended dosage of her sleeping medication. Combined with jet lag, exhaustion, and lingering trauma, it likely contributed to the confusion and disorientation that led to the shooting. It felt like one of those details soap writers secretly place on a shelf before bringing it back at exactly the right moment.
For now, Stephanie is focused on surviving the emotional fallout. Unfortunately, Joy has other plans.
Joy and Alex Strike a Deal Nobody Should Like

Joy spent most of the week reminding everyone that she has every right to be furious. Being shot at tends to have that effect on people.
By Friday, she finally revealed exactly how serious she was. If Alex wanted to avoid seeing Stephanie face criminal charges, there would be conditions attached. Specifically, Stephanie would stay away from baby Kelsey.
That put Alex in an impossible position. On one side sat his wife, who was clearly struggling and needed support. On the other sat the mother of his daughter who no longer trusted Stephanie around her child. Neither argument was entirely unreasonable, which made the situation even messier.
Alex ultimately agreed to Joy's demand without telling Stephanie. That secret may become the next major problem. Secrets rarely stay buried in Salem, especially when multiple family members are involved and emotions are already running high.
The arrangement also raises a bigger question: Did Joy just create a reasonable boundary, or did she hand herself a way to remove Stephanie from part of Alex's life permanently? Either way, this story feels far from finished.
Paulina's Fear Sends Her Running Toward Danger

Chanel finally received some encouraging news this week. She found an oncologist she trusted, agreed to chemotherapy, and committed to moving forward with treatment. It wasn't perfect news, but it was hope. Paulina heard something entirely different.
Instead of focusing on the treatment plan, she immediately zeroed in on the risks, the complications, and the sacrifices her daughter would have to make. By the time Chanel finished explaining everything, Paulina had already started searching for another answer. That answer turned out to be Dr. Rolf's resurrection drug.
The request itself spoke volumes. Chanel wasn't out of options. She wasn't refusing treatment. She wasn't facing an impossible diagnosis. Yet Paulina immediately jumped to one of the most dangerous medical shortcuts Salem has ever produced.
EJ's reaction said almost as much as Paulina's request. He didn't hesitate. He didn't consider it or even start scheming. He shut the idea down immediately. Given what is happening to Lexie and the increasingly alarming information surrounding Versavix, even EJ seemed to recognize this was one line he didn't want crossed. The problem is that desperate parents rarely give up after hearing one no.
Kate Finally Faces the Music

Kate spent months protecting a secret and approximately five minutes trying to explain it. Once Xander decided he was coming clean about the setup involving Johnny, Kate's options evaporated. She confessed Roman before he learned the truth from someone else, but her effort arrived a little too late.
Roman immediately recognized the problem. Kate wasn't confessing because she wanted honesty. She was confessing because circumstances left her no choice. That distinction mattered to him. The confrontation highlighted one of the biggest recurring issues in their relationship: Roman wants honesty. Kate prefers strategy. Sometimes those things overlap. Most of the time, they don't.
By the end of the week, Roman wasn't interested in excuses. He was angry, disappointed, and increasingly convinced that Marlena had been right about Kate all along. Considering how long these two have managed to survive Salem's chaos together, that argument felt bigger than the average marital spat.
Gwen's Grand Plan May Backfire Spectacularly

While everybody else was dealing with shootings, medical crises, and collapsing relationships, Gwen was busy plotting revenge. Her latest scheme involves purchasing University Hospital largely to frustrate EJ and improve her standing with the Hortons, Bradys, and Jennifer's side of the family. On paper, it sounds clever. In practice, DAYS has a remarkable ability to turn good intentions into disasters.
The plan already comes with complications. Dimitri continues threatening her. EJ keeps creating new headaches. And Gwen is placing an awful lot of faith in the idea that buying a hospital automatically earns goodwill from everyone involved.
Meanwhile, she remains blissfully unaware of how close she came to discovering the truth about Xander and Kristen. The pair managed to talk their way out of trouble this week with a performance convincing enough to fool Gwen, at least temporarily.
That word "temporarily" feels important. The truth has a way of finding daylight in Salem. It may take weeks or months, but eventually somebody opens the wrong door, overhears the wrong conversation, or spots the wrong keycard changing hands.
Join us next time when somebody inevitably uncovers another life-altering secret, EJ attempts to solve a crisis with methods that definitely won't create three additional crises, and Salem gathers for the annual competition to determine who can alphabetize a box of expired prescription bottles the fastest.
Will Paulina do something dangerous to get that drug? Is Joy right for keeping Stephanie away from Kelsey? Let us know what you think in the comments.
