While Spider-Man: Brand New Day is about Peter Parker's new powers and how he uses them to fight Jean Grey, the film has more X-Men clues than you might have noticed. Most of the film explores how Peter deals with his powers mutating while he has to investigate and catch the person attacking the Department of Damage Control.

The film not only introduces us to the MCU's first X-Men, Jean Grey, but it also gives us clues for the upcoming X-Men film.

While she hasn't been officially confirmed to be appearing in the 2028 X-Men film, going forward, we will know exactly where she comes from and why she does what she does. There are, however, 5 more X-Men clues in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The universal inhibitors

In Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter Parker makes and uses inhibitors to keep his new powers within control. However, these inhibitors turn out to be universal ones, as in they can suppress any super-powered individual's powers. We see him use it on Jean Grey, and it works.

While this may have seemed like any other invention of Peter's, it hints at something bigger. In X-Men comics, and most films and shows revolving the characters, the X-Men are seen to wear inhibitor collars to keep their powers within control. Peter's invention might be Marvel's first step towards introducing something similar in the MCU.

Introduction of Bill Metzger

Spider-Man: Brand New Day introduces us to Bill Metzger, the director of the DODC. We see him act as a leader who works with Spider-Man to keep his employees and the company he runs safe. However, as we later see, he has a history of conducting experiments on super-powered beings, and does the same with Jean Grey too.

Bill Metzger is MCU's version of William Metzger from the comics. While William isn't associated with the DODC in the X-Men comics, he is the leader of an anti-mutant militia that was an adversary to the mutants. While he isn't able to do much harm to the mutants in the comics, he is still seen as a villain.

At the end of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we also see that Bill Metzger is nowhere to be found. Thus, Marvel might be setting up Bill Metzger to be a bigger villain than his comics version in future X-Men projects.

Fear of Mutants

While Jean Grey was initially trying to only attack the DODC in her search for her sister, she ends up freezing a big chunk of the city with her powers towards the end of the film. As she gets tortured by the DODC, Jean realizes that her sister was similarly tortured and ultimately killed, which overwhelms her into emitting so much power she freezes people and movement.

In the comics, the X-Men are usually hated by the common people. While the Avengers are celebrated, people are scared of mutants. Since there's an X-Men film in development at the MCU, Jean Grey's actions scaring the common people might be the way Marvel is introducing the fact the mutants are going to be feared.

Sentinels

In the X-Men comics, Sentinels are robots who are trained to mimic mutants. While we don't see them actually get created, Spider-Man: Brand New Day does show us the foundation that might lead to their creation.

When Bill Metzger experiments on Jean, he says that the DODC is trying to understand how her powers work so that they can identity a pattern and replicate it someday with someone else. This someone else might just be robots who turn out to be the sentinels.

Jean Grey's ending in Spider-Man: Brand New Day

As Jean Grey is able to leave New York City undetected at the end of the film, we see her on a bus, going towards upstate New York. The film clearly shows us that after finally finding out what happened to her sister, Jean is moving on, heading somewhere new. Since the X-Mansion is located in upstate New York, Jean Grey might just be headed there to work with Professor X.
