After The Lord of the Rings, Oscar-winning producer takes on a new fantasy saga filled with dragons and magic

The Lord of the Rings producer, Barrie M. Osborne, has teamed up with Jeanette B. Milio and Jim Milio (Alliance Cinema) to produce the movie Wars of the Drakons: The Seer’s Prophecy.

According to Deadline, this upcoming project is a part of a fantasy franchise set in a fictional war-affected world of Aerion. In this mystical setting, kingdoms battle for power with the help of their Drakons. Drakons are described as dragon-shaped creatures with supernatural powers.

The plot follows Kale D'Saar, who is a legendary warrior and Drakon master. However, his loyalty to a merciless king is ruined due to a mysterious Seer's prophecy.

The prophecy states that the King's daughter, Princess Kahrie, will become a great warrior and will unite all the kingdoms of Aerion, putting an end to the brutal regime. The prophecy further reveals that when the King tries to eliminate his daughter, Kale will betray him and join a conspiracy to save her. But what will Kale finally choose: duty, his family, or the fate of the world? The synopsis further reads (via Deadline),

"What follows is a sweeping journey of war, forbidden love, betrayal, magic and spectacular Drakon battles, as ancient secrets are revealed and the struggle for Aerion’s future begins.

Barrie M. Osborne is an Oscar-winning American film producer and director. He is known for projects like The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Pete's Dragon, The Meg, and The Great Gatsby, to name a few. Osborne is one of the three producers who are credited for producing the OG The Lord of the Rings movies. According to Deadline, Osborne is set to produce the fantasy project Wars of the Drakons: The Seer’s Prophecy. He told the media outlet,

"I am always attracted to dramatic fantasy films spearheaded by collaborative, passionate, and committed writers and producers."

The upcoming fantasy project is written by newcomer Carla Romero, who is also the producer of the series. Osborne appreciated Romero's efforts as a passionate writer and producer. He added,

"I am confident that the film we will create will attract a four-quadrant audience. The cast, crew, and locations we are considering will add to the scope and grandeur this screenplay deserves. I look forward to including all of you on our journey.”

The original plot has been in development for over six months. To appeal to a global audience and will combine emotional storytelling techniques and immersive world-building.

This fantasy project will mark Osborne's first production work in over a decade. The 82-year-old producer's last production gig was for Gloria (2014). Since then, he has worked as an executive producer for Megalopolis, Mulan, The Meg, and Pete's Dragon. According to IMDb, he is the executive producer for an unreleased project titled The Luckiest Man on the Face of Earth.

Speaking to Deadline, Carla Romero called Wars of the Drakon a passion project, adding that she always loved fantasy adventures that transport the audience to a different world. She further added that she is honoured to partner with Osborne, Jim, and Jeanette B. Milio. She said she hopes that the audience immerses themselves in the fantasy saga and falls in love with the characters
