Artist Zach Fernandez compares his 'Hollyweed' case to Sydney Sweeney's Hollywood sign stunt

Zach Fernandez isn't happy with Sydney Sweeney's latest stunt, where she was seen hanging bras on the Hollywood sign. Zach changed the Hollywood sign to the Hollyweed sign in the past, a stunt for which he was taken into custody and had to face consequences. This reportedly included paying a fine and doing social work.

According to him, Sydney might get away with it easily without any consequences. Sweeney reportedly didn't take permission to decorate the sign from the official authorities who own the rights.

In a statement reported by People, Steve Nissen, CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said that they:

"Did not grant a license or permission of any kind to the production involving Sydney Sweeney as reported by TMZ, nor did anyone seek a license or permission from the Chamber for that production."

TMZ reported that Sweeney secured approval from FilmLA.

Now Zach Fernandez is comparing his Hollyweed case to Sydney Sweeney's latest stunt. In a statement reported by TMZ, he said:

"When enforcement changes depending on who's involved or what's being sold, people notice."

Zach Fernandez speaks out on Sydney Sweeney's Hollywood sign stunt

Though many people think that Sydney Sweeney's stunt was likely a part of the promotion of her upcoming brand and are comparing it to Zach's stunt, where he honored Daniel Finegood, he has made it clear that the two are not similar.

In another statement reported by TMZ, he said:

"Mine was an artistic intervention and cultural commentary. Hers was a brand-backed advertisement."

Zach Fernandez also shared Sydney's Hollywood sign stunt clip on his Instagram story without any text.

Zach pulled the stunt in 2017 when he altered the Hollywood sign to the Hollyweed sign. Speaking to Autre about the aftermath, he said:

"I got out of town, talked to my attorneys, came back down here and then I started feeling a little bit paranoid. Because the detectives started laying on the heat a little bit. A lotta bit. It’s a long story. I’m not at will to say right now, but after all this blows over, let me tell you how the LAPD works. It’s very, very scary."

Speaking of how the LAPD reacted, he continued:

"Very tough. Real fast. And it’s fine. Like I said, I had good intentions all the way. I had no idea about how the world would respond to this. I had no fu*king clue. So I got done and I just stood there calmly for like two minutes and took it in and was just like, “Whoa. I did it.”"

Zach Fernandez said that he doesn't want to pull another stunt on the Hollywood sign, as he has more projects lined up for him.
