The next two months are set to be special for Marvel fans as Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters this December. Before that, VisionQuest begins streaming on Disney+ this week. Many believe that the Disney+ series is going to tie into the upcoming Marvel blockbuster. Thus, it seems that Marvel is just building up to Doomsday.Another way in which Marvel is promoting Doomsday is through merchandising. A few days ago, Funko released a few action figures featuring characters from the movie. One such figure is that of Doctor Doom, who is wearing a military uniform with a hood and a metallic mask. This figurine is called "Lord Doom", but there's a catch: we will not see Doom in this form in Avengers: Doomsday. Why is Marvel leaving out an Avengers: Doomsday Funko figurine? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostIn this image, the Lord Doom figurine is the one at the bottom. We can see that the costume on the Lord Doom figure is more for political purposes than the one we see Doom wear in the Avengers: Doomsday trailers. Those costumes are clearly meant for Doom's battle with The Avengers. ComicBookMovie.com published a report stating that the figure will not be a part of the movie. The published report states that the scene of Doom in this uniform was likely cut during reshoots, but it was too late by the time Funko produced this figurine. Therefore, instead of cancelling the new series of toys, Funko is releasing the figurine under the label of "Concept Series". This would mean that the design of the figurine is based on concept art rather than a movie. The ComicBookMovie.com article pointed out a Scorpion toy from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which had a different design. Turns out, the Scorpion toy is based on the concept art that the production team sent out to the toy company. However, the film crew ultimately decided to change the look of the Scorpion armor late in the production phase. Therefore, it is nothing new that a toy released before the movie includes a figure that wasn't in the final movie. For example, a toy leak from 2015 revealed that we would get Lex Luthor in his Kryptonite-powered armor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. However, we never saw Lex wear the armor throughout the entire runtime of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.Funko's confirmation that "Lord Doom" will not appear in Avengers: Doomsday is something similar. What do we know about Doctor Doom's role in Doomsday? View this post on Instagram Instagram PostThe D23 trailer begins with Sue Storm revealing that Doom was one of the good guys before he lost everything he loved. Apart from that, nothing has been revealed officially by Marvel about this version of Victor von Doom. However, leaks have revealed that Doctor Doom is from the same reality as the Fantastic Four and that he loses his family to an incursion. As for the source of the incursion, it is none other than Steve Rogers. The ending of Avengers Endgame: Encore even alludes to this as Loki interrupts the dancing Steve and Peggy, offering the couple help. We don't know what Loki tells them, but leaks hint that Loki offers them a chance to relocate to Earth-828, the same one we saw in The Fantastic Four: First Steps.Doom is hunting down Steve for causing the incursion, and several leaks have suggested that Doomsday would end with the Latverian ruler rewriting reality, setting the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars."'Avengers: Doomsday' follows beloved heroes from three distinct universes as they’re set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered."What do you feel about this new Doom figurine being left out of the movie altogether?
