Brand new teaser release for The Devil Wears Prada 2 ahead of the trailer premiere

The new teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is quick and very intentional. In just a few seconds of the 30-second clip, we get to see Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep back as their iconic characters, Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly, like no time has passed, even though two decades have gone by.

The biggest talking point is that the teaser says that the movie is an event, and it signals that the studio knows the exact amount of cultural weight this film holds in the hearts of many, many fans.

Fans get to see Andy returning to Runway while Miranda is in control but clearly dealing with a changing industry.

One standout moment in the teaser comes from Emily Blunt’s Emily Charlton, who tells Andy,

“You’ve changed. You’re much more confident. You kept those eyebrows though didn’t you.”

It is classic Emily, and the teaser ends by confirming that the full trailer will drop tonight.

The direction for The Devil Wears Prada 2

Beyond the official trailer, the teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2 gives away a lot if you know where to look. The film is once again directed by David Frankel and follows Andy’s return to Runway at a time when the magazine is fighting to stay relevant. Miranda is no longer just dealing with assistants or fashion deadlines, but this time around, she is figuring out the collapse of traditional publishing itself.

Emily Blunt’s return as Emily Charlton is also important to this shift. Emily is now the head of a luxury brand and controls the kind of advertising money Runway desperately needs. This flips the power dynamic as the former assistant now holds the cards, and Miranda knows it.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 also brings back Stanley Tucci’s Nigel, offering continuity and grounding.

Anne Hathaway has spoken about filming the sequel on Sixth Avenue, and she acknowledged how deeply the film is ingrained in pop culture. She also shared that almost everyone from the original cast who could return did.

The new short teaser, of course, hints at loads and loads of spectacle because it wouldn't be a teaser for The Devil Wears Prada without some jazz and fun, now would it?

The new short teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2, released today, knows exactly what fans want and what they do not need to be spoon-fed. It does not recap the original film, but rather it trusts us to understand what these character dynamics could be like today, almost two decades later.

The sequel to the cult classic will be released on May 1, 2026. The film reintroduces iconic characters we already know, and with this, Runway is open again, and it looks like business is about to get very personal.
