Brittany Boltinhouse addresses Miss North Carolina title strip of claiming her "belief system" is responsible

Miss North Carolina USA 2026 Brittany Boltinhouse has reportedly been stripped of her crown after an old social media post came to light online last Wednesday. The NC Beat reported that Boltinhouse posted several offensive tweets between 2017 and 2019 on an X account handled under the name Sosa the Stallion (earlier known as Sosa B Alondra).

According to The New York Post, Boltinhouse claimed that the removal of her crown was not linked to the disputed social media posts but instead to her political perspective. In her recent interview with the Carolina Journal, she explained to editor-in-chief Donna King that she believes the pageant dismissed her because of her beliefs as a conservative Christian woman.

Miss North Carolina lost control over her belief system

The 27-year-old Miss North Carolina won her crown last month and was preparing to compete in the national pageant on August 27. However, an X post containing racial slurs started spreading quickly on the internet. When it was alleged that the account belonged to her, she retorted,

"Every person has made a mistake. But I'm not really here to talk about that. I'm here to talk about the woman I am today."

She added,

"I won't be judged for my past and I won't be judged at all because I am the woman I am today."

Boltinhouse explained that she is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (also known as the Mormon faith). She described herself as a proud conservative and a God-fearing woman and further clarified that she loves her country and believes in 'A nation under God.'

The first Honduran woman to win the crown recalled her brief time in pageants and mentioned that she only began competing last year. She said that her journey with Miss USA turned from a dream into a nightmare after all these allegations.

Even with the intense media attention, Boltinhouse insisted she was glad the controversy happened to her and claimed that she could handle the criticism. Finally, she stated that she had accepted her unexpected exit from pageantry.
