Brad Pitt may be the biggest name in Heart of the Beast but his furry four-legged co-star, Uber, is stealing the spotlight.

David Ayer's upcoming survival thriller explores the heartwarming relationship between man and dog. The film follows Special Forces officer James Belmont (Pitt) and his retired combat dog Odin (Uber), who are stranded in the Alaskan wilderness after their single-engine plane crashes into an icy cold body of water.

The first glimpses of Heart of the Beast have already sparked plenty of interest in Pitt's unlikely co-star. Since action movies have a long history of putting animal characters through terrifying situations, people are becoming invested in the fate of the loyal canine.

Man's best friend seems to be getting the spotlight on the big screen this summer. After 20th Century Studios' post-apocalyptic action thriller The Dog Stars, Paramount Pictures is gearing up for its canine-starring thriller, Heart of the Beast.

The studio is leaving no stone unturned and positioning Brad Pitt's canine co-star as the hero of its upcoming film. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ayer confessed that Pitt considered himself a supporting co-star to Uber, who makes his acting debut in the film. It was certainly challenging for the Fight Club actor to act with a dog as a co-star and he made sure to carry dog treats with him at all times.

Since dog films are usually tearjerkers, fans are bracing themselves for an emotional ride in Heart of the Beast. However, many people are begging the creators not to kill Odin in the upcoming film, with some even blatantly refusing to watch the survival film if the dog dies in the end.

Odin is a certified star of Heart of the Beast and these comments prove it:

Another user has a peculiar condition before watching Heart of the Beast, suggesting that people are certainly rooting for Odin's survival, even more than Pitt's character:

"Until someone I trust assures me that the dog lives, I will not watch this movie."

In a behind-the-scenes featurette released by Paramount titled 'Training Your Co-star,' Pitt reveals that he does not like being licked in the face. However, his upcoming film not only required him to be licked by Uber in almost every scene but also required them to share the same bowl for drinking water.

Pitt and Uber's wholesome relationship is at the heart of Ayer's upcoming film. The project required Brad Pitt to transform into a dog trainer and spend days training with his canine co-star to familiarize him with the wilderness.

In his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Pitt revealed how he developed an understanding with Uber, which came in handy while shooting particularly challenging emotional scenes:

"I really got to know our hero dog. I would have to have dog treats with me, and in the middle of the scene, say it’s an emotional scene, then the dog would start wandering off. I’d have to break and go, ‘Uber, here, buddy. Here you go,’ and then fall right back into the emotion of it all."
