With the latest DC film coming out in two days, parents might be looking for a Clayface parents guide. While Clayface has an interesting story and has been praised by critics, it might be best to not let your children watch the film. The film deals with extremely complicated themes and visual gore that are not suitable for younger audiences.

Clayface follows the story of Matt Hagen (played by Tom Rhys Harries), a rising actor, whose face gets disfigured by a local mob boss. Since his face is one of his assets, Matt agrees to become the test subject for an experiment that could fix his face. While the experiment works initially, it causes Matt to experience traumatic side effects that change his life drastically. Here's the Clayface parents guide explaining why it's not suitable for children to watch.

Clayface has been officially rated R by the Motion Picture Association for strong bloody violence, gore, language, nudity, and brief drug use. It has also been rated 18 by the BBFC in the UK, which means it's only suitable for audiences aged 18 and above.

Before starting the Clayface parents guide, it is important to note that the film's story revolves around a man whose body starts to transform into living clay. That means that the film features not only the distortion of Matt Hagen's face but also his entire body. Besides, there are multiple scenes of violence in the film as well.

According to IMDb, the violence in the film is severe, and the use of profanity is moderate. While it is up to parents how much profanity they will expose their children to, it is advisable to not expose them to such severe gore. There is also moderate consumption of alcohol, drugs, and smoking portrayed in the film, which again is not a great influence on children.

Besides violence and gore, the other thing that is severe in the film is frightening and intense scenes. While some older children who are closer to 18 aren't too scared by such scenes, it is advisable to not let younger children watch the film since it might affect them negatively.

The sex and nudity scenes are moderate in the film. It is again up to parents how much they want to expose their children to such content safely, but it is better not to. The film has been rated differently around the world, with it being deemed appropriate for 16+ audiences in Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands, among others.

However, it has been rated R in the United States, and given the Clayface parents guide, it isn't an appropriate watch for minors.

Directed by James Watkins, Clayface is written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. The film is produced by Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn, and Peter Safran. DC Studios, 6th & Idaho, Troll Court Entertainment, and The Safran Company are the production companies behind the film. Warner Bros. Pictures is the distributor.

Clayface will premiere in theaters on October 23, 2026.
