Move over policy debates as Donald Trump has apparently found a new battleground to get competitive with former President Joe Biden.

The President recently made a pit stop at the Peterbilt Motors manufacturing plant in Denton, Texas, as part of his campaign trail ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. The appearance marked a major moment for Trump's campaign as Texas has emerged as an intense battleground for the 2026 midterms, especially in the competitive U.S. Senate race between Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton and Democratic State Lawmaker James Talarico.

Donald Trump took a hilarious detour while backing Paxton, boasting about his mobility as he took a jab at Biden. According to The Independent, the 80-year-old President, addressing his excellent mobility skills while using a flight of stairs, said:

“You know these things? Do you know how many stairs they have? Look, I can go ramp, I can go stair, I can go another stair. Another stair in the back. I have a stair."

Trump's comments were followed by a sharp jab at Biden:

“Don’t forget, when Biden left the stage - he spoke very briefly, like two minutes, one minute, as quickly as possible - he could never find the stairs. I don’t have that problem.”

Donald Trump boasts about his stair-climbing ability

During his recent speech in Texas, Trump turned his attention to his own ability to navigate ramps and stairs. Ironically, Donald Trump's remarks come amid growing concerns about his physical and mental health. As reported by The News Republic, the President has made frequent trips to the Walter Reed Medical Centre, has often slurred his words during his speeches, has dozed off during important meetings, and has even appeared lost while attending critical events.

Yet Donald Trump, indifferent to these claims and rumours, praised his excellent mobility in climbing stairs.

Interestingly, the staircase has somehow become a recurring character in Trump’s commentary. The President's recent comments are a hilarious callback to an incident in 2020, which saw Trump's unsteady descent on a ramp at West Point military academy. The moment went viral on social media and was even addressed by Donald Trump on X:

“The ramp I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long & steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery. The last thing I was going to do is 'fall' for the Fake News to have fun with.”

Years after complaining about a 'long and steep' ramp, Trump praised his ramp-walking and stair-taking skills at a rally in Texas.

Amid growing concerns about the 80-year-old President's ability to serve, Donald Trump underwent a series of tests, including a CT scan and heart imaging, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in May. As reported by CNBC, Trump's physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, confirmed that the President's “cognitive and physical performance are excellent" and that he is "fully fit" to serve.
