David Anthony Burke, the musician who is professionally known as D4vd, is going into pre-trial on July 7, 2026, in the murder case of Celeste Rivaz Hernandez. Burke was arrested in April 2026 for allegedly murdering fourteen-year-old Celeste Rivaz Hernandez back in 2025.

He has been in police custody without bail since then. D4vd is going into a pre-trial today, two weeks ahead of a preliminary hearing, which will decide if he will face a trial jury or not.

A step closer to finding out if D4vd will be convicted in the Celeste Rivaz Hernandez murder case

The pre-trial David Burke is about to go into is the first step towards deciding whether he will face a trial jury or not. He has had a court arraignment and preliminary hearing, but all the evidence collected so far will be presented at today's pre-trial hearing.

D4vd first met Celeste Rivaz Hernandez in 2022, when she was just 11 years old. Evidence reveals that Burk and Celeste began an inappropriate relationship while she was still a minor. Reportedly, last year in April, D4vd and Celeste had a fight, after which Celeste threatened to go public about their relationship.

From the available evidence, the authorities allege that Celeste's threat scared Burke, as the relationship coming to light would destroy his growing music career and reputation. Authorities believe that to stop Celeste from revealing the relationship, D4vd killed her.

Celeste disappeared in April 2025 and wasn't found for months until September 2025. On September 8, 2025, an employee at a Hollywood tow yard reported a foul odor coming from an impounded Tesla registered to D4vd. Police searched the vehicle and found human remains inside bags stored in the trunk. Authorities later identified the remains to be of Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The discovery turned the missing-person case into a homicide case and was investigated as such. Prosecutors allege that D4vd stabbed Celeste to death in April 2025 and later dismembered her body. Additionally, they also allege that her remains were concealed inside his vehicle for months before the car was towed and searched.

Burke was thus arrested in April 2026 and charged with first-degree murder and a count each of continuous abuse of a minor and mutilation of human remains. He has plead not guilty to all charges and remains in custody without bail while awaiting further court proceedings.

David Burke will be going into a pre-trial hearing today where all the evidence gathered will be presented. Two weeks later, a preliminary hearing will take place which will decide if there is enough evidence for Burke to face a trial jury or not.

A new development has occurred in the case, which isn't exactly related to the defendant. Over a dozen employees at the LA County Medical Examiner's Department are being interviewed by prosecutors. They are being interviewed because they allegedly viewed and leaked the medical examiner's investigation files without prior permission before the details of the autopsy were made public.

The Medical Examiner's Department has not released an official statement on the matter. Irrespective of what the interviews and further investigation reveal, there will most likely be tighter security measures put into place to make sure nothing like this happens again.
