Doctor Who star Noel Clarke charged with six alleged offenses after police investigation

Noel Clarke, who played Mickey Smith in Doctor Who, has been charged with a series of sexual offences in the U.K. The actor was arrested on September 25, 2025, and his home was searched by the Metropolitan Police, who left with an electronic device and documents.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the London Metropolitan Police announced that the 50-year-old had been charged with alleged offences involving five women. The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge the actor. The offences apparently took place between 2007 and 2016.

Clarke is facing two charges of sexual assault, one count of exposure, and three charges of voyeurism. The Kidulthood star is set to appear at the Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The evidence file was presented to the Crown Prosecution Service, which authorized the charges.

Noel Clarke lost his libel lawsuit against the newspaper outlet, The Guardian. In 2021, the newspaper detailed the allegations of sexual misconduct against at least 20 women. However, he had denied the allegations. After the allegations were published, Clarke had not appeared in any other projects.

Noel Clarke last appeared on ITV's British police procedural thriller drama, Viewpoint, starring Alexandra Roach and Amy Wren. Before the fourth episode broadcast, The Guardian published the sexual harassment allegations against Clarke. The finale episode starring Clarke was replaced by a new episode titled, It'll Be Alright on the Night and it was released on ITV's on-demand platform, ITV Hub. In response to these claims, BAFTA suspended his membership and his Outstanding Contribution to Cinema Award.

Noel Clarke has been charged with six alleged offences, including voyeurism, exposure, and two sexual assaults. In a statement, CPS said (via BBC)

"Our prosecutors have worked to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring this case to court and that it is in the public interest to do so."

Det Supt Mikey Cagney, who led the investigating team, confirmed the women connected to the alleged charges will continue getting support from trained officers. Cagney urged that anyone who has been a victim of such assault should contact the police without hesitation. He added (via BBC),

"The information you provide will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity and we have trained investigators on hand to support you."

Noel Clarke is a popular actor, producer, and writer. Born on December 6, 1975, he rose to fame by portraying Mickey Smith on Doctor Who. Apart from that, he also co-directed and starred in the teen crime drama films Kidulthood, Adulthood, and Brotherhood. Some of his notable projects are Star Trek Into Darkness, Mute, Twist, Bulletproof, The Adventures of Paddington, Alright Now, Urban Myths, and My Butterfly, to name a few.

Clarke is married to Iris Da-Silva, and they have four children.
