President Donald Trump made controversial remarks about Norway and Norwegian immigrants during a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, October 25, 2026. President Trump mocked Norway because the Oslo-based Nobel committee has not awarded him the Nobel Peace Prize.

The rally was held in support of the Republican US Senate candidate and former US Representative Mike Rogers ahead of the midterm elections. However, Trump's remarks about Norway and Norwegian immigrants caught worldwide public attention. According to Reuters, Trump remarked:

"I'm not in love with Norway. Norway has become a sh*thouse country actually."

However, there was no formal indication that the Trump administration was adopting fresh policies on Norwegian immigrants.

At the Michigan rally held on October 25, 2026, President Donald Trump lashed out at Norway and the Oslo-based Nobel Peace Prize committee for not awarding him the prestigious award. Trump called Norway a sh*thouse country, a label he previously used for other nations. Trump remarked:

"I don't want anything from Norway."

Trump said that he was ready to welcome people from Denmark but not from Norway due to the Nobel snub.

Trump claimed that he had successfully stopped eight wars. A week before the Nobel announcement, he told First Lady Melania Trump that receiving a Nobel Peace Prize would be a great honour. He made further unverified claims such as stopping the nuclear threat of Iran and the war between India and Pakistan. Trump said:

"Think I settled eight wars and I got two more coming. I stopped the nuclear threat of Iran. And I was supposed to get it last year but it was a little early because I just got into office."

According to BBC News, President Donald Trump was vocal about not winning the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Hours after the award announcement, Trump said at a rally that he has never heard of the mystery person. He said:

"This is an indelible stain on the country of Norway."

President Trump has been outspoken about his desire to win the prize and made criticisms in 2025 when it was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. However, at the Michigan rally of October 25, 2026, Trump remarked that María offered to share the prize with him and praised her.

During the Michigan rally, not only did Trump lash out at Norway due to the Nobel snub, but he also mocked Navi Pillay, the human rights lawyer who won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. According to Newsweek, speaking about the Nobel Peace Prize, Trump said:

"It was gotten by a woman nobody ever heard of."

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, which is an independent five-member body whose members are elected by Norway's parliament. The Norwegian government has no part in selecting the winner.

According to Newsweek, at a rally in Syracuse, New York, on October 9, Trump remarked:

"Today they gave out the Nobel Peace Prize to a person I never heard of. Nobody did. It's a mystery person."
