Doomsday's trailers have revealed that we will most likely see Doctor Doom's origin story in the upcoming film or in Avengers: Secret Wars. In the special look video for Doomsday, we see Sue Storm tell all the heroes Victor Von Doom was kind and caring until everything was taken away from him. The video also suggested that Doom's origin story has something to do with his mother. Moreover, we see Doom tell Thor that even the underworld answers to him. According to an X user's theory, Marvel might have borrowed Doom's origin story from Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment. If that turns out to be true, and if Marvel stays true to the Secret Wars comic, it would mean Doom has already defeated Mephisto once, and we might see Ghost Rider in Avengers: Secret Wars. How Avengers: Doomsday's events might lead to Ghost Rider's introduction in Avengers: Secret WarsIn the Doomsday Special Look video, we see Thor attacking Doctor Doom as he says:"I swear you will beg for h*ll long before I grant it."Doom stops Thor's attack effortlessly and says:"H*ll answers to me, for I am Doom."Doom saying that even h*ll answers to him might be bigger than just a flex of his powers. The Doomsday special video also showed Doom standing in front of a painting of a mother and son. According to a theory by Dev Angiras (@devangiras_55), Marvel might be borrowing Doom's origin story from the Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom: Triumph and Torment comic. In the comic, Doom's mother, Cynthia von Doom, was a powerful sorceress who made a bargain with Mephisto. After her death, Mephisto took her soul, leaving Victor obsessed with freeing her from his grasp. As an adult, Victor manipulated Doctor Strange into helping him go to the underworld and defeating Mephisto. While the duo couldn't absolutely destroy Mephisto, they were able to defeat him and free Cynthia's soul from eternal damnation. As the theory suggests, if Marvel is borrowing this story for Doom's origin story in Doomsday, it would explain why Doom says that h*ll answers to him. That can then lead to the introduction of Ghost Rider in Avengers: Secret Wars. The ending of Avengers Endgame: Encore has confirmed that the incursions earlier theories speculated are true. Universes are going to be on a collision path with one another in Doomsday, which will all be tied to Doom somehow. The presence of the collisions suggests that Marvel might just be adapting the events of Secret Wars (2015) in Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).In Secret Wars (2015), after the multiverse was destroyed, Doctor Doom stole the omnipotent power of the cosmic Beyonders. He used that power and the remaining parts of the dead realities to create a new world called Battleworld. If Marvel decides to adapt this for Avengers: Secret Wars, we might see Mephisto coming to Battleworld to harvest the souls of its inhabitants.Battleworld could therefore give Mephisto an unprecedented opportunity. Instead of controlling a single universe's souls, he would have access to survivors from countless realities, giving him countless opportunities to manipulate people through the bargains and deals he is known for.Ironheart introduced Mephisto in the MCU, and at the end of Season 1, Riri Williams made a deal with him to save N.A.T.A.L.I.E. That raises the possibility that Mephisto could use Parker Robbins and Riri Williams to manipulate the inhabitants of Battleworld. Doom will not stand it if Mephisto tries to undermine his authority and will see it as a direct threat, which could lead to them facing off again. But Mephisto's actions could also bring Ghost Rider into the picture. According to Marvel comics, Ghost Rider is supposed to obey Mephisto because of the deal he made with him. But since Mephisto did not keep his end of the bargain like he should have, Ghost Rider, aka Johnny Blaze, hates him.Mephisto stealing souls from Battleworld could lead to Ghost Rider and Zarathos (the demon bonded with Johnny due to Mephisto's curse) opposing him both because of their history and because it's exploitation of the souls. Moreover, Marvel has already connected Ghost Rider to Battleworld in the comics. The Secret Wars (2015) event included the Ghost Racers series, which reimagined Ghost Riders as part of Battleworld. Thus, if Marvel introduces Ghost Rider in Secret Wars (2027), it would not only make the story extremely interesting but also make the decision a comic-accurate move.Marvel has already confirmed that the new Ghost Rider film is going to be released in 2028, the year after Avengers: Secret Wars is set to be released. Showing him as Mephisto's opponent in Secret Wars (2027) might be the perfect way to introduce him to the MCU before his own film. All of this is however just a theory at this point and yet to be confirmed by Doomsday's events or Marvel. Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters on December 18, 2026.For more articles like this, follow Soapcentral.
