Musk, the upcoming documentary about Elon Musk's businesses and political influence, premiered at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival on September 8, 2026. The documentary film wouldn't have been possible if Musk's former colleagues, friends, and partners had not stepped forward to tell their stories.

Ashley St. Clair, influencer and political commentator, who happens to be the mother of one of Elon Musk's children, has recently revealed that she was offered a huge amount of money to stay silent, which she refused. St. Clair's revelation has now resulted in Elon Musk getting criticized for what he is allegedly trying to hide.

Netizens question why Elon Musk offered $40 million for Ashley St. Clair's silence

Elon Musk is infamous for his shifting political views, professional behavior, and a notorious personal life. Thus, when director Alex Gibney set out to make a documentary on Musk, it was imperative that he obtain interviews and testimonies from people who have interacted with Musk on a personal basis for a prolonged time.

Ashley St. Clair was one of the many who spoke up, and what she has recently revealed has resulted in netizens calling out Elon Musk. According to a clip that went viral, Ashley St. Clair, in a press conference at the Venice Film Festival, revealed that when her relationship with Elon Musk ended, she was offered $40 million to sign an NDA that would prevent her from speaking up about Musk.

St. Clair refused the offer and later decided to speak up. However, the fact that she was offered $40 million just to stay silent speaks volumes. St. Clair also added:

“When you’re offered something like that, it really causes a debate in your head about what your speech means and how valuable that is, and why do they want to offer me this amount of money to not speak?”

She continued:

“And I believe Alex spoke to it a little bit about Elon’s unreality, and he does complicated relationships generally, but his most complicated relationship is with the truth. And so, I think most importantly, I want to set the example for my kids that you should never take being materially comfortable over speaking the truth.”

Videos of St. Clair saying these statements have been doing their rounds on the internet, following which, netizens have called out Elon Musk for what he's allegedly hiding. Many netizens have pointed out that the fact that St. Clair was offered such a huge amount suggests that Musk is desperately trying to hide something. After all, no one spends that much money just to keep minor things hidden.

Many netizens are also praising St. Clair for not accepting the money and choosing to speak up; however, they are also worried about her and her child's safety. What Musk is/was trying to hide is yet to be known. Perhaps the documentary film, Musk, will reveal what he doesn't want everyone to know when the film is released in theaters on October 16, 2026.

However, there is another side of the internet. Some netizens have also expressed that they think St. Clair should have accepted the $40 million, lived a comfortable life, and stayed silent. They are of the opinion that she should have secured her and her child's future instead of speaking up since they think no amount of speaking up will actually change Musk's behavior or image. The reality of what Elon Musk may have been hiding will soon hopefully be revealed in Musk.

Musk is going to be released in theaters in the United States on October 16, 2026.
