From Doom’s accent to stormbreaker stunt, Doomsday trailer confirms every major leak was true

Months of rumors and alleged insider leaks had already painted a surprisingly detailed picture of Avengers: Doomsday. As many remained skeptical about how much of it would actually make it into the final film, the recently released first official trailer has validated several of the internet's biggest claims.

From Doctor Doom's distinctive accent to the unexpected Stormbreaker sequence and a host of long-speculated character moments, the trailer has reignited discussions about just how accurate the pre-release leaks really were.

The Doomsday trailer offers the first glimpse of superheroes from three different universes as they unite to face the existential threat of Doctor Doom.

Here's a breakdown of every major leak that appears to have been confirmed by the Avengers: Doomsday trailer.

Doctor Doom's accent

Ever since the MCU unveiled Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie, fans have had mixed reactions. While some praised the actor for taking on the challenging role after playing Iron Man, others expressed concern, considering Doom's contrast with the actor's former MCU character. Amid these concerns, there were rumours that Doctor Doom would feature a prominent Slavic/Eastern European accent in the film.

The official Avengers: Doomsday trailer has confirmed that this leak was true. The trailer opens with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doom speaking in his deep Slavic accent:

“Something’s coming. Something we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision.”

While fans were skeptical as to how Robert Downey Jr. would make Doom distant from Tony Stark, the voice makes up for it. Considering Doctor Doom is of Romani heritage and the ruler of Latveria (a fictional nation in Eastern Europe), his accent is unlike anything heard in the MCU before.

Loki and Steve Rogers' team up?

Tom Hiddleston's casting in Doomsday was no secret but fans were eager to learn how Loki will show up in the upcoming film. In the Loki Season 2 finale, Hiddleston's character was sitting on the Citadel at the End of Time, powering the Multiverse but cut off from his brother and family. A major leak suggested that before the Loki Season 2 finale, the God of Mischief saved Steve Rogers and his family when the TVA pruned their timeline by bringing them to the Fantastic Four Universe. Additionally, he also gave him a special TVA card to contact him.

While this leak had little to no credibility, the Avengers: Doomsday trailer featured Loki living in a house, which looks eerily similar to Rogers' new home. Additionally, a man (with a wedding ring on his finger) is seen with Loki's TVA ID card, hinting that he is none other than Steve Rogers.

A high-stakes battle between God of Thunder and Victor Doom

Another leak that had fans hyped was a high-stakes and action-packed battle between Thor and Doctor Doom. While footage released by Marvel at CinemaCon hinted this was true, the Doomsday trailer has confirmed that the God of Thunder will fight against Doctor Doom in the upcoming movie.

However, this battle will be especially harrowing for Thor as Doctor Doom is extremely powerful and unlike any threat he has encountered before. A brief clip in the trailer shows Doctor Doom humiliating Thor by stopping a full-force blow from Stormbreaker with just two fingers.

Multiversal Incursions

Finally, a plot leak suggested that the film will heavily centre around catastrophic multiversal incursions, acting as the direct catalyst for the total collapse of reality leading into Avengers: Secret Wars. The Doomsday trailer opens with Doom likely referring to these Incursions, as Professor X watches another reality being destroyed before his eyes.

Steve Rogers' arrival in the Fantastic Four universe may have inadvertently sparked the Incursion, potentially setting in motion the catastrophic chain of events that leads to the world's end in the upcoming film.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to arrive on December 18. Its sequel, titled Avengers: Secret Wars, is scheduled to be released on December 17, 2027.
