Matt Damon is garnering a lot of fan attention owing to his stunning transformation in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey. But, on Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad Confused podcast, the star has given a lot of credit to his stunt double.

Damon revealed that a female stunt performer replaced him during the scene where Odysseus' crew fights the giant Laestrygonians and that the demanding action sequences were not executed solely by himself.

The lead actor further explained the process of creating the forced-perspective scenes with the Laestrygonians. The production team cast stunt performers who were over 7 feet tall alongside others who were under 5 feet tall to achieve the striking visual effects.

The Odyssey: The unsung female stunt performer behind Matt Damon's mythic transformation

During the interview with Josh Horowitz, Matt Damon chuckled and mentioned his double, a female stunt performer named Devyn Dalton with incredible arms. Expressing his admiration for her, he added:

"When she came into the catering tent, it was the first time I met her. I went up and hugged her and thanked her for all the work she put in."

The actor also discussed how much of the physical work in the film was actually performed by her. The scene would not have been completed if she hadn't stepped in to perform the demanding physical labor.

Matt Damon further explained on Happy Sad Confused that the exceptional strong arms of the stunt performer impressed him greatly. Previously on the New Heights podcast, Damon shared about his weight reduction to 167 pounds and said that he focused on building a leaner physique to play the Greek King of Ithaca in The Odyssey.

He mentioned that he was in excellent condition, and therefore was able to drop a significant amount of weight for the film. Damon said Nolan wanted him to stay lean cut strong. He reportedly cut gluten from his diet by following a strict regime given by his doctor.

Normally, his weight ranges between 185 and 200 pounds, but he completed the entire film at 167. Moreover, the star added that he had not been that lightweight since high school.
