Donald Trump has spoken about his intellectual abilities, admiring his late uncle and explaining that he can solve math problems in his head without using a pen or paper. In a viral Instagram video, Trump is seen talking about a question that asked him to solve a math problem without using paper or a pencil.

He claimed he answered it correctly, saying:

"I got it."

Donald Trump linked his math skills to his family, talking about his uncle, Dr. John G. Trump, whom he described as one of 'the smartest' people at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

More on the story below.

Donald Trump claims he can solve math without paper

In the video, Donald Trump is seen sharing his experience, saying that one of the questions required difficult math-solving skills, stating that first it asked him to take a number. He said that he took the number 49 and then was asked to triple the number, after which he was asked to divide it by 3 and then double that. He added that he was then asked to subtract 400 from the number and then add 293 and then divide by 7.

Trump continued by saying:

"Now how many people will get that? I got it."

He then revealed that his uncle was the smartest scientist in the history of MIT.

Donald Trump's uncle, John G. Trump, was a physicist and the younger brother of his father, Fred Trump. He worked at MIT for over four decades, where he taught engineering and worked in the field of electrical engineering. John died at the age of seventy-seven.

According to the BBC, John Trump also worked on radar research during World War II and studied the papers and equipment of famous physicist Nikola Tesla after he died in 1943. However, this is not the first time Trump has spoken about his uncle. In a previous interview, Trump, describing his uncle, reportedly said that he had a great uncle who was a great genius like the other members of his family. Trump added that he was a professor at MIT, and when he was in the White House, the heads of MIT came to meet him and told him that he had a book on Trump's uncle, calling him the longest-serving professor at the university. Trump said his uncle knew everything, from math and chemistry to nuclear science.

Donald Trump has also spoken about taking a cognitive test during a previous medical checkup. He told reporters that he got every answer right and said he had also taken many other tests related to his heart and overall health, as reported by NPR.

Last week, The Independent reported that Donald Trump called himself a "frickin' genius" while talking about his memory test at a rally in Arizona. He told the crowd that doctors had asked him to remember five words and repeat them after answering twenty-five to thirty other questions. Trump claimed he got the words right and said that very few people could remember them in the correct order.
