The Get Low rapper shared Nathan with his estranged wife, Nicole Smith. He was widely known as DJ Young Slade or Slade, following in his father’s footsteps in the music industry. In May 2020, he graduated from New York University. He studied at NYU Tisch School of the Arts' Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music.

He was born in 1998 when his parents were in their dating phase before their 2004 marriage. He was their only child together. The couple announced their separation in 2024. Jon is also a father to a daughter named Nahara, whom he welcomed with his girlfriend, Jamila Sozahdah, in 2024.

Nathan spoke positively about his father in a resurfaced interview from March 2025 with the nonprofit organization 360 Baseline. In the viral clip, he praised him for being a consistent figure in his life, countering stereotypes about absent fathers in the industry.
