Ryan Reynolds is among the very few people who are not eager to celebrate their birthdays. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the actor shared his feelings about celebrating birthdays and how he prefers to not have any elaborate birthday parties.

The actor also recently celebrated his wife Blake Lively's birthday. Both actors have often shared humorous and heartfelt posts on their social media platforms wishing each other happy birthdays. Here are the details of Ryan Reynolds’ thoughts about his birthdays.


Ryan Reynolds reveals he doesn't like huge birthday celebrations

In the interview, Ryan Reynolds notes that he does not like birthdays. Though he does not “bemoan a birthday” and is "fine with it", he prefers not to have a “huge party”. With only a few days left before the actor turns 50, Reynolds also shares the reason he prefers not to have birthday celebrations. He states that he already gets “enough attention”.

Hence, an elaborate birthday party is not something that he enjoys. He also points out that he was recently on the red carpet, as he attended the premiere of his movie, Mayday, which is available for streaming on Apple TV. In the interview, Reynolds speaks about how this time of the year is the “Birthday Alley” for his family.

The birthdays of his four kids go “back-to-back to back-to-back” right up to Christmas, which he notes are “ceaseless”. Through the years, Ryan Reynolds has worked on multiple projects. He gained immense public attention for his contribution to the world of entertainment.

His performance in Deadpool as the titular character depicted his acting prowess and ability to deliver a layered character with distinct authenticity. In his newest movie Mayday, he takes on the role of Troy Kelly. Mayday dives into the story of a lieutenant whose life takes a turn after he gets stranded in the Russian wilderness.

Throughout the movie, he navigates through numerous turns and events so that he can evade danger. With a blend of humor and intense action sequences, Mayday grabs the attention of the viewers from the get-go. Besides Ryan Reynolds, some of the other cast members of this movie are Kenneth Branagh, Marcin Dorocinski, David Morse, etc.

In another interview with PEOPLE, Ryan Reynolds shares his experience while working with Kenneth Branagh in Mayday. He notes that working with Kenneth Branagh was “totally” intimidating. He thinks Branagh is a “freaking genius”. In the movie, Branagh and Reynolds’ dynamic plays a crucial role. Branagh’s Nikolai Ustinov is tasked with rescuing Troy.

Branagh also appreciates Reynolds in the interview, noting that Reynolds’ “generosity is screaming out there”. Reynolds also shared the screen with his wife, Blake Lively, in Green Lantern. After meeting each other through work in 2010, the two of them reportedly started to date in October 2011. The couple eventually got married in 2012. Hence, besides Reynolds' birthday, the couple also celebrates their anniversary on September 9.
