An 18-year-old mother from Miami named Jazmin Paez was arrested in July 2023 after she tried to hire a killer to murder her 3-year-old son. Police reports stated that she attempted to arrange the crime through a parody website called Rent-A-Hitman. Over the past ten years, rentahitman.com has worked as an unusual but effective trap for people who were searching for a contract killer.

Police reported that Paez had submitted a photo of her child along with an address and instructed that the murder should be done before the weekend by Thursday. On her online form, Paez allegedly wrote that she wanted to get something done once and for all and asked for her son to be taken away far away and possibly be killed as soon as possible.

Jazmin Paez attempted to hire a hitman to kill her 3-year-old son

July 18, 2023

On July 18, 2023, Jazmin browsed different websites and discovered rentahitman.com, which was originally built for cybersecurity awareness. She believed it was a real service, so she filled out the request form, provided her home address, and uploaded her son's photo.

July 20, 2023

The next day she paid $3000 using a false name and demanded that the murder should be carried out by Thursday.

The website's operator Robert Innes noticed that Jazmin had provided real addresses and target details. He immediately flagged the request as serious and contacted the Miami-Dade Police.

July 19, 2023

After tracing Jazmin's computer IP address, police officers visited her home and questioned the child's grandmother to ensure the safety of the boy. Soon after, police arrested her after collecting the evidence and charged her with felony solicitation of first-degree murder and unlawful use of a communication device.

Investigators did not offer any ideas about a possible motive for the request, but they confirmed that her computer browser still showed the murder-for-hire website.

July 20, 2023

On this day, Jazmin was officially processed, stood before a Miami-Date County judge, and secured her release by paying a $15,000 bond. Later, she was bonded out of jail and remained free under pretrial release. She followed court rules, finished high school, and worked towards an associate degree in science.

On March 23, 2026, Jazmin appeared before Judge Carlos Gamez in a Miami-Dade court after turning 20. She pleaded guilty to solicitation of first-degree murder, unlawful use of a communication device and tampering with physical evidence.

Prosecutors noted her positive behaviour during the waiting period and agreed to a plea deal that prevented her from going to prison again. She was sentenced to 2 years of strict community control supervision followed by 14 years of probation.

The court further added special conditions that Jazmin Paez must undergo a mental health evaluation, attend therapy, keep a job, and avoid all contact with her son. If she is found to violate her probation, she could face up to 40 years in prison.
