Doomsday's trailers have confirmed that everything that will happen in the film is a direct consequence of the Avengers going back in time and changing the past. The Avengers wouldn't have to face Doom in Doomsday if they weren't living lives they weren't supposed to.Amidst the talk about what the Avengers did, we forgot one little detail: there is a branched timeline from where Thanos left in 2014, and that universe didn't see the Blip. That means all the Avengers, including Iron Man, are alive in that universe. There is a possibility that the Iron Man of that universe ends up becoming Doctor Doom in Doomsday.How could an alternate Tony Stark be Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday? In Avengers: Endgame (2019), we saw the 2023 versions of Nebula and War Machine travel back in time to get the Power Stone from the year 2014. When they were there, the cybernetic implants of the future Nebula accidentally synchronized with the past Nebula's network.Through that link, Thanos found out that he would succeed in 2018 but then get killed by Thor soon after. He did not want his life to turn out that way and thus made his scientists reverse-engineer the quantum navigation technology. That allowed him and his entire army to jump forward in time from 2014 to 2023 in the main MCU timeline.When the 2014 Thanos, Gamora, Nebula, and his entire army permanently left their native timeline, a branched timeline was created. Since Iron Man of the main MCU timeline used the Nano Gauntlet to turn 2014 Thanos and his entire army to dust in 2023, they never returned to their original 2014 timeline.According to the rules of time travel explained in Endgame, removing Thanos, Gamora, Nebula, and his entire army from 2014 created a divergent, alternate branch universe where Thanos simply vanished. That means that the branched reality never went through the events of Infinity War, including the Blip.While Captain America did return the Power and Soul Stones to 2014, Thanos and his army didn't return. That universe is still a branched one. In Loki Season 1, that branched reality was pruned, but then in Season 2, when the rules of pruning were changed, all branched realities were allowed to exist. Thus, that branched reality exists, and it did not go through the Blip.It also means that the Avengers of that branched reality are still alive, including Iron Man. Since Robert Downey Jr., who played Tony Stark/Iron Man in the main MCU timeline, is going to star as Victor Von Doom in Doomsday, there has to be an explanation as to why he shares the same face as Tony.It is thus possible that the Doom we will see in Doomsday is the future version of the Iron Man from the branched reality. Avengers Endgame: Encore does show us a scene of Doom forging his own mask just like Tony did, which is too similar to be just a coincidence.It is hence possible that the Iron Man of that branched reality went through something terrible because the Avengers messed with time, which led to him turning into Doom. That would not only explain why he looks like Tony but also why he holds the Avengers responsible for whatever he went through.In a funny coincidence, a song titled Iron Man by Black Sabbath seems to predict the transformation of Iron Man into Doctor Doom. As Ivan Mars (@its_ivanmars) points out in a reel, the lyrics of the song initially describe the character and then say:"Now the time is hereFor Iron Man to spread fearVengeance from the graveKills the people he once saved"Before these lyrics, the song also states that Iron Man travels through time to save mankind, which is exactly what happened in Endgame. The aforementioned lyrics seem to eerily predict what will happen next in Doomsday. However, this is just a funny coincidence.
