Right after the announcement of Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, the intrigue surrounding the movie rose exponentially. Besides being the youngest A24 director, Kane Parson’s distinct ability to deliver a storyline perfectly captures his remarkable skills. The nine-minute footage, which became the backdrop for this movie, garnered 78 million views on YouTube.

Now at 20, Kane Parson’s Backrooms does the job once again by gaining an immense positive response right after its release. However, for the parents who are yet to watch the movie and are thinking about taking their children along with them, it must be noted that this movie is rated R and is not suitable for kids.

Reasons parents should not let their children watch Backrooms

As Backrooms is a psychological horror, it can be understood that the movie will be replete with elements that will be impactful. The R rating of this movie comes from the intense scenes that it depicts. The characters navigating through the horrifying situations, which lead them to face one difficulty after another, make the movie unsuitable for children.

For children, these intense scenes, which involve frightening moments throughout, can leave a lasting negative impact. Hence, parents should be vigilant before deciding whether to let their children watch this movie. Besides the intense, frightening scenes that are present throughout the movie, there is also the use of alcohol, along with the presence of mature scenes.

As a horror movie filled with some jump scares and an overall grim atmosphere, the characters often resort to the use of profanity, which further enhances the aspect of this movie being unsuitable for children.

Psychological horrors such as Backrooms not only resort to jump scares but also other elements that enhance the impactful aspect of the movie. This aspect also requires the viewers to be able to understand the subtle nuances to enjoy the movie on a deeper level. However, children are not able to understand these aspects. They are also not able to differentiate between right and wrong. Hence, it is better if parents follow the age rating given for the movie and do not let children watch it.
