Shawn Wayans is back. He has returned to the big screen in the latest instalment of the horror parody franchise called Scary Movie 6.
Shawn emerged as a well-known comedic actor in the 1990s and 2000s comedy scene. Before Scary Movie 6 his last credited acting role was a voice appearance as Tommy in the HBO animated series Animals.

During the hiatus, Shawn devoted his time to his family and three children, daughters Laila and Illia and a son named Marlon. He has not been married and shares his kids with his ex Ursula Alberto.
Shawn, his brother Marlon Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprise their roles as Ray, Shorty, Cindy and Brenda. In addition to starring in the film, Shawn's brothers, Marlon and Keenen Ivory served as writers and producers in the upcoming project.
They are joined by their sister, Kim Wayans and nephew Damon Wayans Jr., marking the family’s first collaboration on the series in 25 years. Scary Movie 6 has been distributed by Paramount Pictures and will hit the theatres on June 5.

Shawn Wayans comes from one of the entertainment industry's most successful and influential comedic families. He is best known for his work in Scary Movie and White Chicks. He is also known for starring alongside his brother Marlon in the WB sitcom The Wayans Bros.
Shawn was born on January 19, 1971 in New York City, New York. His father was Howell Wayans. He worked as a supermarket manager mother Elvira Wayans was a homemaker and a social worker.
Shawn is the second youngest among the Wayans siblings including Marlon, Keenen Ivory, Damon, Dwayne, Kim, Elvira, Diedre, Vonnie and Nadia.
After graduating from Bayard Rustin High School for the Humanities in 1989 Shawn Wayans made his acting debut in 1989 in his brother Keenen's film I'm Gonna Get You Sucka. Between 1990 and 1993, he appeared on the Fox sketch comedy show, In Living Color, created by his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans.
Shawn later co-starred with Marlon on the semi-autobiographical WB sitcom, The Wayans Bros. After gaining fame from comedy shows Shawn and his brothers became a major force in Hollywood, pioneering a wave of spoofs and slapstick films.
In 1996, Shawn featured in Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood where he teamed up with his brothers. It was notably a spoof of Boyz n the Hood.
In 2000, Shawn Wayans co-wrote and starred as Ray Wilkins in the Scary Movie, which became a massive box-office hit. He returned to work on Scary Movie 2 before parting ways with the franchise, due to creative differences. He continued to write and star in comedies with Marlon. These include classics such as White Chicks and Little Man.
In a June 2026 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marlon said:
“If you look at everything we've done — I don't care if it's White Chicks, I don't care if it's Little Man — all our movies are set pieces and jokes. It's joke, joke, joke, joke, joke. If we have a movie that's an hour and a half, we really want 88 minutes of jokes and two minutes of heart”
He reportedly starred in, produced and wrote the 2009 film Dance Flick after which he went on a significant hiatus. In 2016 he made a guest appearance as Tommy in the animated comedy television series Animals which aired on HBO.
Shawn keeps his personal life private and occasionally shares family milestones on Instagram. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Shawn’s net worth is estimated to be $30 million. He has maintained his presence in the comedy scene by performing stand-up comedy across the country. He has been on a national comedy tour currently.
Shawn has been making headlines as he prepares to return to the big screen with the sixth instalment of the Scary Movie.
