The Breadwinner is an upcoming American comedy film starring Nate Bargatze and Mandy Moore. The film is dropping today, but it premiered two days ago in the Philippines.

It is a must-watch movie for the kids because the Motion Picture Association officially rated it PG due to the presence of family-friendly action comedy scenes. 2026's version is unlike 2017's animated film because it was rated PG-13 for showing intense war themes and violence.

Eric Appel directed this film with Sony Pictures Entertainment as the main production house. Nate Bargatze plays the character of Wilcox, and Mandy Moore plays Katie.

Bargatze is popular among his fans for his clean and inoffensive stand-up comedy. He wrote and produced this motion picture with Dan Lagana. The story is about Nate Wilcox, who is a traditional family provider, living with his wife and three kids.

His life changes completely when his wife goes on a business trip after winning a household invention competition on Shark Tank.

Nate stays at home and figures out how to take care of their three daughters. The plot turns into comic chaos with burnt eggs, a garbage truck chase, and failed chores. These daily blunders will deliver a familiar feel to parents and kids about their daily life activities and make them laugh at the end.

The movie is highly praised by Rotten Tomatoes reviewers

The movie secured a 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, and the critics' consensus, audience summary, and Popcornmeter ratings are still pending. Glenn Kenny from the New York Times said,

"Bargatze proves himself a savvy writer and performer here; he doesn’t hog all the laugh lines for himself, but instead often plays straight man to his three daughters... It’s the girls who ultimately make this comedy sing."

The Hollywood Reporter's Frank Scheck negatively reviewed the film and said,

"It is so lazy and laid-back that it practically recedes into itself......This is a film that makes television shows like Father Knows Best and My Three Sons seem edgy."
