They maintain that any sexual activity that occurred was consensual, or that the lawsuit misrepresents what happened. Reportedly, no criminal charges have been filed.However, Cornell University imposed a range of disciplinary sanctions on the seven accused men after a Title IX investigation and hearing panel. A report in the Cornell Sun states that defendant Matthew Ingalls and defendant Jonathan Newell were both expelled.The panel said Ingalls manipulated, exploited, and endangered Jane Doe for his own interest and others’ entertainment. Newell allegedly sent a message inviting other fraternity members.Defendants Winston Lee and Gillio Lopes were both issued suspensions and disciplinary probation. Lee was suspended for allegedly inhaling ketamine off of Jane Doe’s body and forcing oral s*x on her, and Lopes was suspended for allegedly having s*x with Jane Doe without her consent.Diego Sarabia was issued a persona non grata order which barred him from campus for three years for allegedly forcibly kissing Jane Doe. Defendants Scott Norris and Scott Kretzschmar were issued no-contact orders with Jane Doe. They were also ordered to complete “educational modules” on sexual harassment, social media use and bystander intervention. Norris was accused of entering the room after group chats. Additionally, all of the accused, except those expelled and Sarabia, were ordered to write “reflection papers.”
