Icefall, the action thriller film, was initially released in theaters on November 4, 2025. It follows Cara Jade Myers as Ani, a young Indigenous game warden, and Joel Kinnaman as Harlan, a poacher Ani arrests as they embark on a journey to find a huge amount of stolen cash that was aboard a now-sunken plane.

Icefall didn't do too well in the theaters, but it has found a new life through streaming. After it was recently released on Prime Video, the film has bagged the top spot on the platform's streaming charts.

Icefall starring Joel Kinnaman performs better than expected on Prime Video

Many films get new lives through streaming platforms as they get a chance to be experienced by viewers from the comfort of their homes. It brings in viewers who were perhaps unable to go to the theaters but find the films to be interesting. Icefall has fortunately been blessed the same way.

Icefall was released on Prime Video on August 19, 2026, and, according to FlixPatrol, rose to the second spot of the platform's streaming charts within a day. While it couldn't perform too well in the theaters, months after its initial release, the film has become a success on Prime Video. It seems that with time, the film might live up to the success it initially intended to.

However, the film's success on Prime Video isn't too much of a surprise. For the past few years, several action films have been doing extremely well on Prime Video when released on the platform after a theatrical run. Films like The Amateur, The Running Man, and A Working Man have done exponentially better after they were available for streaming on Prime Video.

Besides, Icefall brings viewers a unique story of an unlikely team fighting against criminals, law enforcement, and harsh weather to get to millions in stolen cash. Directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, the film revolves around stolen cash that was on a plane that crashed into a frozen lake during a storm. A few months later, when a suitcase full of money rises to the water, dangerous thieves and criminals try to find the rest of the cash.

Harlanz a poacher, finds the cash first. However, an Indigenous game warden, Ani (played by Cara Jade Myers), arrests Harlan just as the criminal gang arrives. They are then forced to team up to save themselves not only from the criminals but from the melting ice. Harlan and Ani then also go on a journey to get to the money safely before the criminal gang can.

Besides Kinnaman and Myers, the film also stars Danny Huston as Rhodes, Graham Greene as Oz, Martin Sensmeier as Pen, Oliver Trevena as Dax, Devaughn Nixon as Drake, Frida Gustavsson as Sirena, and William Fletcher as Ellis.

The film is written by George Mahaffey and Steve Isles. The producers behind the film are Gary Hamilton, Ying Ye, Ryan Hamilton, Adam Bramich, Rob Van Norden, Volodymyr Artemenko, and Eugene Stupka. Arclight Films and Top Films are the production companies behind the film.

Icefall is streaming on Prime Video.
