Kid Cudi's next directorial project will star Barbie Ferreira, Laura Harrier

Kid Cudi, aka Scott Mescudi, the rapper, fashion designer, and actor, is set to make his directorial debut with Doe, which will be released in 2027. After directing Doe, Scott has already begun production on his next directorial project, Wrong Number.

The film is going to be a horror thriller and star Barbie Ferreira and Laura Harrier, among others. Here's everything about the upcoming film revealed so far.

Kid Cudi's Wrong Number will feature a romance gone wrong

Kid Cudi is not only the director of Wrong Number but its also writer and executive producer. Moreover, he also stars as the film's protagonist, Ibn, who writes self-help books and is often lonely. As Deadline reports, the film will follow Ibn and his unexpected romance with a woman called Eliza.

However, this romance will soon unravel when he gets stalked by a stranger while also becoming a suspect in several murders. Barbie Ferreira, who is best-known for her roles in Euphoria, Faces of Death, The Afterparty, and Mile End Kicks, stars as Eliza.

Lucy Barrett, Dewayne Perkins, Clifton Powell, and Laura Harrier also star in the film in undisclosed roles. Barrett is known for her roles in Deep Water, Charmed, and Neighbours, while Perkins is known for his roles in One of Them Days, The Studio, and Saved by the Bell. Powell is known for his roles in Surviving Sasha, Saints & Sinners, and Ray, while Harrier is best-known for her roles in Michael, Doctor Odyssey, and Hollywood.

Besides Kid Cudi, the film is executive produced by Karina Manashil. Producers of the film are Mark Webber, Anthony Baldino, and Ryan Lacen. Skyler Zurn, who is known for her work in Obsession, is the casting director for Wrong Number. Kid Cudi has also written the film's score.

Speaking to Deadline about Wrong Number, Kid Cudi said:

“A lot of people know that im a huge horror buff. And it was only a matter of time before I’d jump into the genre myself with my own stories."

He added:

“WRONG NUMBER is a fun ride, an original story that has all the elements of an epic horror thriller, and I can’t wait for you all the experience it. So thankful to have this amazing cast and team with me on this wild journey. There will be blood!!”

We can thus expect a bloody and unpredictable horror thriller, one that begins with a romance but results in something horrific. Kid Cudi also talked about directing the first two films of his directorial career in the same year. He said:

“Directing my second film in a year is unreal."

He continued:

“I’m learning more and more each day and I’m just ready for the challenge. I’m hyped to see people become fans of my filmmaking in the same ways they are with my music. I’m putting the industry on notice, Mad Solar bout to shake it up.”

Wrong Number is currently under production in Los Angeles. While no official date of release has been made public, the film is expected to be released in 2027.
